A World Record Holder

Sexagenarian Keith Matthews has recently finished his amazing "grand tour" of England on AFIKIM's incredible 8mph scooter BreezeTM, thereby securing himself a place in the Guinness Book of Records!

During his 28-day, 1312-mile journey around England, Keith faced many challenges and overcame many obstacles. His caravan collapsed on top of him, his rental van broke down three times, and he even found himself low on "fuel" when a leading supermarket reneged on its promise to recharge his batteries! Fortunately, Asda stepped in and Keith was able to continue on his way, all the way to an entry in the famous book.

HRH Prince Phillip met Keith at the TGA stand at the Donington Roadshow and showed great interest in Keith's journey. Keith was delighted to finish an incredible fundraising event on such a high.

"I have been on lots of scooters in my life and nothing comes close to the comfort of BreezeTM," he said. "The challenge was really hard at times but I can't stress enough the quality of the scooter. I have been so impressed with the distance it went and the reliability, and I am sure TGA will do really well with it. It stood up to a very tough environment with me on it for about 12 hours every day. The number of people who asked for the supplier's name was incredible. Most people seemed to like it because it doesn't look like a disability product."

The top speed looks like 9.3mph.

Don't get me wrong, I think what Keith Matthews has done is amazing, as is all the others that have undertaken anything to raise money and awareness like this, but what record has he got? Checking the Guinness World Records site.

http://www.guinnessw..._(scooter).aspx

The individual distance record belongs to a Mr John Duckworth and is set at 1654.6 miles, while he, as part of Scoot-A-Long (charity) also have the overall distance record at 3412 miles.

If you check out their website they have just broken their own records, having covered over 4000 miles already, and are continuing at the moment with the intention of covering over 5,000 miles, all for charity. All their records have been achieved on the Horizon Mayan and Ventura scooters previously mentioned, and they are supported by a number of companies and individuals, so may I wish them all the best in their current endeavour.
