Hey guys,

So I'm finally back to the site. I've been m.i.a for a little over a month because of some drama that happened with my father and his discharge.....let me get you guys up to speed.

So basically the last time I was on the forum, my father was getting ready to be discharged (june31st). Well he was discharged that day, and then the very next day had to be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance because he had a fever of 103 and passed out almost looking like he had a seizure. After being in the hospital for two days they sent him back home July 4th. Well my friends, July 5th he was back into the hospital….come to find out his rehab doctor discharged my father with a UTI (and without the necessary supplies and information for follow-ups). After fighting with his insurance we got him back into rehab so that he can gain his strength back. He was discharged way too early considering he had two surgeries during his 3 month stint. Even his current doctor said he was embarrassed by the way the previous doctor (who was mysteriously transferred 3 days after my dad when home!) discharged my dad.

It’s been a hard few weeks, but he’s finally coming home tomorrow. I’m still scared, but I know he’s better equipped to be at home and much stronger. We’re getting a home aid for him and a nurse to come to the house 3 times a week to change his wound vac.

Anyway guys, please pray that my dad stays strong and that these issues with his strength don’t keep happening.

Thanks!!

Hi Fandistrong,
Welcome back. Sorry to hear all that you and your dad have been through but glad your doing better. You said you are still afraid but look how you have handled things so far. You have done a good job and your father will do fine when he gets home. You will be in my prayers and God bless

Glad things are looking up. Now that he's home, get him on the forum, too. I'm sure he'll have some questions that he would rather get the answers to on his own.

Don't be a stranger.

Glad to hear things are on the up swing. Unfortunately UTI's are all too common a problem. Things will settle down eventually. :)

Thanks guys! I really mean it when I say this forum has really helped me get through some rough times. Just being able to type what I'm feeling and get it out there is a huge help.

I've already told my dad about the site and I'm sure he'll check it out when he gets home. Does anyone know any good sites for parapalegics in New York? I want my dad to get more involved in the SCI community in NY but haven't had any luck.

Maybe I'll start one....hmmmmmmm

Thanks!
