I know a big bummer for me was not being able to ride a motorcycle after my accident so i did some research. Check out this link Lee Beaver If you are really really interested in riding a motorcycle again then please contact me and i will give you info on a kit you can buy. I have a 2002 yamaha R1 that is being modified so i can ride right now ( I am a T-5) kevo6767@yahoo.com

Interesting Kev-O. Very elegant modifications.
I never got back on a bike but I used to love trailing a bike when I was driving a car on a winding road though it got a bit dangerous as I tended to want to sway with the rider.
It's probably a good thing at my age that the need to speed is no longer so pressing.

I was talking to lee a couple hours ago and he was saying being able to ride again has changed him. I have been in a chair for about a year and a half so i am still new to it but knowing i will be able to ride a motorcycle has made this whole thing seem not so bad. I smile just thinking about it :mfromg:

I watched both videos. The street bike is too cool! I have been thinking along those lines for stabilizing wheels on a street bike but this is outstanding. If you want to see another way to get around on a bike check out the post by Freddy in the 'Disability Equipment For Sale-Wanted' forum. Motorcycle&sidecar Fully Adapted For Wheelchair
Boat racing accident July 2006. Still hoping for some return!

I seem to remember Honda trialling something similar to lee's adaptation some years ago - they called them 'outriggers' (I think), but theirs lowered when the bikes speed dropped below 10mph. I never did hear anything following their initial trials. Seems to me a better idea to have the 'outriggers' lower automatically at low speed to prevent any accidents. Pressing the button is just one extra thing to remember in an emergency braking situation. :help:

lee said he has put 20,000 miles on his bike and has not droped it yet. The outriggers go down in 2sec so it is just as fast as an AB puting down there feet. I guess its just like hand controls once you get used to it, it is second nature.

I've had my eyes on these:

This comes in pretty close too:

In the US they are "kit cars" so as to be legal. Building it would make one of them even cooler.

Hello all of you :-)

I registered here a few months back, but am just now making my first post... I looked around for some kind of 'welcome lounge' but couldn't seem to find one... But the word 'motorcycle' stood out, so I figured this would be as good a place as any!!

So yeah, I'm a T6 complete... had a motorcycle accident... Did you guess?
I'm still in my first year of this, so it's all still pretty new... I'm just fresh out of rehab.

I can't remember anything much about accident, but sometimes I wish I could, if only for the hope that it might scare me away from bikes, and then perhaps I wouldn't miss them SO DAMN MUCH!!!

Anyway, the first thing I did as soon as they let me near a computer was start searching for ways and means of getting back on a bike... And this is the best thing I have found so far: http://www.dreamfit....motorcycles.php

But I do like the thought of being able to control when the support wheels come down, rather than it being controlled by the speed you're travelling at... I think that's a mighty fine idea!! :)

I am super keen to get back on a bike, but I'm worried I wont have good enough upper body balance... have any of you tried it yet?

If I got another bike now, the wife would kill me before the bike did. Nope I shall stick to cars and hang on to my life :)

Hey welcome to the form. I bought one of those kits form lee (the guy in the video) i dont have it on all the way yet but it should be done by the end of Sep ( I could do it in a day or two but dont have time). everyting is now electric so it is much safer then the air. i am a T-5, so as long as you have good hands then balance is not a big deal. I have been in a chair for about a year an a half now so im still new to it to. I found that site you were looking at to but like you i didn't care much for it eather, If you want just say something an i can give you Lee's # an you can talk to him about it or if theres anything you want to ask me i will tell you everything i know.

Thanks, Kev-0 :) It's all wishing and hoping at the moment... I don't have a bike to modify or anything... but my balance really is shocking! that's my main concern. My hands are perfectly fine though... I might have to see if I can find a demo one that I can try first... I think there might be one at Philip Island, so I'll have to look into that...

And Dave! That thing looks amazing!!!!!
What a hoot that would be...
