As a PhD student at Loughborough University, I am looking for volunteers to take part in a study looking at fluid balance in individuals with a spinal cord injury.

The study involves drinking non-radioactive heavy water (Deuterium), which is used as a biological marker to evaluate what happens to body fluids.

The trial will involve the ingestion a tracer, before retiring to bed on the first day of the trial. The elimination of this tracer in your urine, over the following 7 days will be used to determine your body water turnover. For the first day you will be asked to record your food intake.

This study has been approved by the ethical committee of Loughborough university and this would not have been granted unless it was entirely safe.

If you are interested in this study then please contact me K.E.Black@lboro.ac.uk

Thank you
Katherine Black
