Anyone here get agrivated when you circle the parking lot looking for a handicap spot...Only to find that everyone and their mom claims they are indeed handicap.....Countless times I will see perfectly able people park get out and walk into the store no limp, stager, walker, nothing :crytch: ....and then the people who park and wait in the car for someone to come out. :) They make me want to scream... :) :mfrlol: :ranting: sorry I just needed to vent

I try to not let it get to me as I don't know their condition...I usually fail. Especially when they ate their way into their "disability"! :)

I think there should be a color code. Blue if you are in a wheelchair or need one ( the parking space will be wide). Green if you are up there in age an cant walk far ( the first cople spaces closest to the building). and Black if you are just to fat an lazy to find another parking spot ( these parking spots will be in the back of the parking lot). All violators will be shot on the spot :)

Oh do I ever! The only thing worse than NOT finding a spot.........having other cars honk and be PO'd you're blocking them from finding a spot (while I'm unloaded in the middle of the road part of the lot so I can get out and my B/F can pull into a regular spot out in the back 40). Oh what a fun day out (insert sarcasm + hand gestures). And yes I've thought the same damn thing, "are these things coming in crackerjack boxes?". Scan the forums and you'll find post after post complaining about the same problem.

You know what I think some of the problem could be? Look on the net.......there are people getting plaques for the parking all based on lies! Some of us have shirts that say "I'm just in it for the parking" but for us it's only joking; but for some......the a**holes are just in it for the parking. I doubt that ALL those taken spaces are being used by someone in a wheelchair or with some other physical impairment. Can't count how many times we've gone out to eat and we have to make do with regular parking......get inside and can't spot a single person with an OBVIOUS disability. And sorry I have seen some old people jog from their car parked in a handicapped spot into the store. If someone is older and TRULY can't move around well enough I have no prob.......but I agree that those who do not need the SPACE and only the PROXIMITY should have a different kind of space. Oh FYI green is already taken by timed parking.

On a more humorous note: I had an elderly lady read me the riot act a couple of weeks ago. Why? Cuz I'm too young for a parking permit. I'd be nice if young people never got hurt and needed the plaques........but we do. Those plaques "are for senior citizens who've "earned" that privilege". I tried explaining it is based on physical ability not age. I guess she needs to write to the DMV and tell them to take the wheelchair symbol off and put on elderly person on instead. LOL

Sorry if I went on and on......but ya got my blood boiling. :nopity:

*I USE a wheelchair, that does NOT make ME a wheelchair!*

:yikes:
I searched eBay and all I could find were expired handicap license plates...is that what you meant? When I first read the post, I pictured the placards you hang from the rearview mirror for sale...that would be... :)

it gets me loads too.

Because I'm 21 I often get these pretenders have a go at ME because I'm in a disabled spot.
I usually make them feel bad about it deliberately to make a point. Most disabled people aroud here are in it because they love the pies. It gets me annoyed every time.

Here is a funny story. Shortly after my husband was injured we and a group of friends went to an amusement park. Of course we had parked in the Handicap parking spot with the lined area beside our car. Well, when we went to leave my husband could not get in his car because someone had parked on the Lined area, so his two buddies were Livid, they were so mad. Well, they decided that to show this person that they should not have parked there, they decided to let the air out of all the tires on the vehicle. :yahoo: We pulled my husband's car out and he got in and we left.

I know how fustrating you are feeling. It makes you want to just park behind them so they can't get out or even just wait for them so you can let them no how RUDE it is to disregard those who actually need the parking space.

Well, I hope this made you laugh to know that not everyone gets away with disregarding those who legally park in the "Blueman spots"
