I am a c6/c7 incomplete quad and use a powerchair. I just had an evaluation/assesment for driving last month along with my driver's license. Yaay!! I've never had a license given I've been in a w/chair since 1984. During my training and assesment last month it was determined an EMC joystick for gas/brake (Y Series Gas/Brake JoystickJ would be best. In addition, for other vehicle functions like shifting gears, head lights, wipers, etc a Gold Series LCD Console and a DigiTone elbow switch for turn signals will be installed. As far as steering goes it will be No-effort steering with a tripin on the steering wheel. Anyone with experience using EMC controls or anyone that knows who uses these controls please comment...reliabiliy, errors, or overall satisfaction with the controls. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Tony!
Congratulations! I'll bet you're excited. You're going to drive!

NOW...BE CAREFUL! Write to me private. I have reams and reams of horror stories about EMC controls. I had the same ones you are getting/got. I drove for 20 years....(relatively) safely. I haven't driven since March, though. Why? Faulty brakes.

EMC are crap and they know it and so do the many lawyers who have litigated against them.

rite to em private and i'll send you some articles i've written.

Learn from my BIG mistake.

I drive using EMC controls. Two bad things about them. 1. They are extremely expensive and you should insure them w/you car insurance. 2. They need constant maintenance. Just make sure you have them checked every six months or so to make sure they don't fail on you, even if they don’t seem to need it. NEVER get them wet on any means. The newer system has a new clutch on them to prevent brake failure but you can still lose your gas if something knocks the clutch. Although there are cons about them there are many pro's including but not limited to, being able to drive, independence, control of you going where you want to go, not having to just go where they want you to go. Right now EMC is the best product (that I can find) that will allow quads to drive. All the other are beyond huge and take up too much space. EMC is compact and reliable to an extent. Just keep up on the maintenance. I like mine. They give me a real life. You'll like them too. Don't let anyone talk you out of them b/c of their bad experience/bad maintenance. You get them be more independent and decide on your own if they work or not for you. Good luck and congrats.
