I have MS and am considering a baclofen pump for spasticity. I have heard that you have to wait 6 weeks before you can rehab. I am afraid if I can't exercise for several weeks, I will be so deconditioned I will never get back to where I was. Also, how am I going to take care of myself before they teach me how to do things with the new reduced spasticity?
Any help would sure be appreciated.

I had a pump placed 6 Aug, which was a Monday. They had me in a rehab center Friday (would've been Wednesday, but there was a paperwork snafu with insurance) and made sure I could dress myself, go to the bathroom, make a sandwich, etc. before they sent me home. Went home on a Tuesday and started outpatient PT the next Monday. Haven't been able to go back to the gym yet (I'm under some pretty strict movement restrictions), but it's not like I can't get any exercise--

I too went back into therapy the next day after my implant,as far as how will you do things for yourself until you return to therapy, trust me,you will not see that much of a change, for a few months, you will have to make several follow up doctors visits until they get the pump adjusted correctly.

Good Luck,
Tom

Thanks so much for your replies and help since I am an MS person.
Still waiting on getting my test dose to see if the pump would help me.
