Hey,

I need one of those drivers seats that rotate out and then drop down via motor several inches making the transfer from the wheelchair to the drivers seat easier. I've been using my arm strength but age is catching up with me.

After I find and get installed the rotating chair, I will have a wire/cable/electric motor pulley system installed to pull the chair into my Honda van via the drivers side sliding door.

Has anyone tried this method?

I took my driving lessons in a Ford pickup with the seat you're talking about. It worked very well, but the wheelchair lift placed the chair in the bed ( also an easy deal). A friend has the seat and a "car topper" that pulls the chair into a clamshell on the roof. He likes this arrangement quite a lot.

Keep an eye on ebay. I've seen a couple of the toppers on there recently.

Anything that keeps you rolling is a good thing. And I know about the age thing, only too well!!!

I've got one in my vehicle. The rear drivers side door was suicided. The big drawback is the time it takes for the whole process to be completed. I get really wet when it is raining. If you want to see some pictures or have some questions just let me know.
Boat racing accident July 2006. Still hoping for some return!
