Do any quads do their own bowel program? i'm a c6/7 complete quad with zero finger function but good wrist extensions. i've been out of rehab for just over a year now and want to be as independent as possible. maybe someone can enlighten me on some good tricks on how to do this. i even some equipment to do it but find it really difficult. do any quads live on their own and do all of their care?
are there any certain commode chairs out there that help? i also heard of a seat that u can put on any toilet seat, but i couldn't find it on internet. i guess i have lots of questions. i would appreciate any feedback i can get on this subject. thanks alot

from the multiple quads i know, the key seems to be being at least sensory incomplete in being able to do ones bowels or have some finger movement.
I am identical in level to you and suffered my injury when 20 years old. i spent the first 2 years trying to find a way of doing my own bowels without accidents. The best i got it was using bisocodal rectal solution in a modified 10ml syringe. however between falling out of a shower chair on numerous occasions, damaging my rectum and many accidents i gave up to concentrate more on the other things i could do.

i think your build may also have a lot to do with it but i know enough to say its not impossible, just very hard. Good luck

check this out. A lot of those who do their own bowel program use things like these.

I don't have a lot of time right now, but I thought I'd post something here before in the few minutes I have. I'm a c6 complete with no feeling in my hands (except for pressure near my thumb), I also can't feel anything from just below my shoulders down. I am still able to do my bowel program by myself. It took a lot of practice and trying to figure out what worked best, but it is do-able for a lot of people. I'll explain more later if anyone wants to know, but right now I really have to go.
