I don't know if I would be much of a help but I do my bowel routine with my mom too. We do it every 2 days, sometimes 3. We use enema. Suppositories don't work for me. I use the regular toilet. Regarding the Saturday nights. why don't you change your schedule and having it on Friday..

Hey Newbie

yup establishing a bowel routine can sometimes be difficult!

Heres mine!

Diet

Fruit, fibre, veg, etc ,etc but includes junk food too! lol

lots of water each day.

30mls senns syrup at night. Time about 8-12 hours before you get up.

1 or 2 Glycerine suppositories whilst sitting on the toilet.

You can give these yourself either with practice if you have some finger movement or by using a suppository insertor.

and a well placed mirror. You lie on your side on the bed. Place mirror to see "hole"!! insert suppository in "hole"

Transfer into chair. Push to vbathroom .. jump on loo. Wait! lol

Sometimes "majic bullet "suppositories (Bisocodyl) might be better. Best to try Glycerine first!

It takes a while to get a routine established!

Ask your team mates they have all been there and we rugby lot don't mind talking about anything!!

Any Questions just ask!

Aside from a good diet with enought fiber, I use the MagicBullet 3x a week (M-W-F). If you are having problems inserting a suppository or with doing your own stim then you might want to give one of the following a try:

Royal Grip Digital Bowel Stimulator

Digital Bowel Stimulator

Suppository Inserter

I struggled with accidents and figuring out routines until I started using the MagicBullet. Now I just wish I hadnt taken so long before I found it as it really does seem to work magic. 30 min bowel routines now and no more accidents!

Hey qr,

I’m with gsp, get one of the stimulators. I get mine through shepherd and they are smooth lexan without that little shelf that the Allegro models have..

You might try enemeez instead of the suppository. It’s a liquid and produces much faster movements, at least for me..

Welcome to the board.
I understand your frustration.

After 17 yrs as a quad:
(my best advice)

#1 Magic Bullet over regular suppository
they both have the same amount & same kind of active ingrediant but,,,,,,,,,,
the reg. supp. is covered in wax
the wax takes 30 mins to 1-2 hrs to melt
nothing is gonna happen till it melts!
the active ingrediant burns the muscle lining & makes it spasm
which makes it push the bowel out
like we use to do
nothing covers the mb, so it starts everything much faster

#2 you have to get ALL the bowel out of the way before you insert the mb
the bowel that is right inside the spinchter muscle
OR
the supp. goes inside the bowel
and doesn't lay on the wall of the bowel
so it doesn't burn or agitate the wall
so nothing or very little happens
no spasms

---I get,
my fingers are to short or
it's in there
I get a chill up my neck & shoulders when it goes inside in the muscle
If I don't get a chill, it's not in there
I had a nurse with 3" fingers, very short,
that could get it in.
So short fingers can do it-----

if this happens and a little comes out
try again to clear all bowel out manually
and insert another suppositiory

#3 the suppository has to go INSIDE the spinchter muscle
this means you have to find someone
that knows where it is
and is willing to keep pushing till it's INSIDE the spinchter muscle
outside of it may bring a small bowel movement & melted supp. (juice)

But if the bowel is out of the way right inside the spinchter muscle,
and the supp is pushed inside the spinchter muscle,
then you should get a great return.

Sometimes take 1-to-1 1/2 times
according to how clear the path is.

#4 After you're thru using it
and to keep from using it any more,
you have to stem 3-4 times
to get all the melted supp. left behind out
the melted supp. makes you keep going

Good Luck!
