My para husband and I live in the inflated real estate market of the Bay Area in California. We currently live on the second floor in a condo. Of course we wanted to be on the first floor, but a unit was unavailable. So it freaks me out of the possibility of an emergency.

He recently brought up the possibility of purchasing a new two story home because it would cost the same amount as purchasing an older single story home and making the necessay adjusments since older homes tend to be smaller and more restrictive.

I've seen random commercials in the past for lifts that are mounted along the wall of the stairway. Does anyone have one of those mounts or know where I can find more info on them?

My major concerns are the cost, reliability of the lift (will I need a backup generator?), limits on location of the lift. Any info or suggestion would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Google porch lift to see what I have in my house. They can be had with hydraulic lift, and with battery backup.( both of which I have)

The power went out for almost two days and I had no trouble making six trips upstairs. Going down doesn't use much power.
