After my laminectomy last year I had made good progess with walking and had also been off all medication.

A couple of month ago I started getting pains in my lower back and also in places in my right leg. My rehab consultant arranged for an MRI which took 4 weeks to have and the result shows that I have another herniated disc between L5 and S1 and also Spinal Stenosis between T11/T12. From what I can work out and from the pain I am having the disc must be pressing on the sciatic nerve. I now have extreme difficulty walking and am in constant pain. He requested an urgent appointment with my surgeon, but he won't see me until October 9th.

I would like to know what damage the disc can do to the nerve and what the chances are of the nerve repairing afterwards.

As it is I don't think I will last until October 9th. I am already on Tramadol, Diclofenac and Baclofen and I am still in excrutiating pain.

Hi Angela,

I am going through exactly the same agony I have all what you've got. and Cervical Myelopathy.

I am now having a laminectomy and microdiscempty on Monday 11th Feb. I am on Gabapentin which soothes the nerve endings.
Hope you are feeling better now!!!
Warm Regards
