I was inquireng about buying one of thos thera hand bikes, you know the ones, no motors or anything just two cogs and a bit of chain, so that you strap your feet to it, and your feet move when you turn the handles with your arms.

i cant believe it, i can remember using one in hospital, theres nothing to them, i'll probaly built one myself, anyone else tryed?

infact its not even a chain, its a belt like inside a hoover,

oh man, ive just paid £2100 for my chair, this being disabled thing sure is an expensive hobby....LOL :D ...... imight start a new hobby lol :D

It is a shame that prices become so inflated for things like that.

If you have the know-how, I say go for it and build your own.

I really would like a bike, but cannot afford it either. Unfortunaltey it is a case of supply and demand. The demand for these types of bikes is so low that nobody wants to build them unless they can make some reasonable cash for them. WHile the price seems high, you have to invest a fair amount of money into all the differences that are required. I know of a few people that have looked into building their own and in the end all bought off the open market because it was cheaper or too difficult to build something of quality by themselves.

Yup, this handicap thing is expensive. The best that I have done is being proactive in getting parts for my wheelchairs etc from conventional vendors, not the medical vendors. Just got 2 25-540 tires from a bike shop for half the price that the medical shops sell them for.

No what I really need is solid rocket pellets for my jet pack...that's mobility.... :)
