More Hollywood Studios Say ‘No Smoking’

Quote

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 30 — In the movie musical “Dreamgirls” last year, James “Thunder” Early, Eddie Murphy’s soul-singing, chain-smoking character, was so infuriated by a fumbled food order that he mashed his cigarette into a chicken sandwich that was supposed to have no mayonnaise.

Alan Markfield/Fox Searchlight Pictures
The film “Waitress,” where smoking is seen, was produced independently and acquired by Fox.
That portrayal and scene could still fly these days at DreamWorks, which made the movie. But if Universal Pictures were to produce the movie today, Mr. Murphy might consider having his character switch to chewing gum.

f*@king morons.
I'm so astounded by the level of stupidity that I'm speechless.

Yup, I hear you they should just ban smoking and make it illegal so these policies never have to be put in place.

Then ban fattening food, not walking to work, large portions, alcohol, coffee, soda, sitting too long...

Well, yesterday they made it illegal to smoke in public places. I admit it, I smoke. I feel I'm a "polite" smoker. I don't smoke anywhere someone might object, but did take advantage of smoking areas. They've raised the taxes and made purchasing smokes ugly. Why not put some of the taxes on candy bars, french fries, or whatever else may be "bad" for your health.

Smoking is somewhat different from some of the other social vices mentioned in this thread, in that it impacts directly on others in the vicinity of the smoker. If you wish to smoke yourself into a haze filled oblivion in the confines of your own home then that's fine by me, but, in a public place (such as a restaurant) it is not acceptable.

If I go out to eat I don't want the lasting taste in my mouth when I leave to be one of Chesterfield's, or Marlboro.

Guess it's time to make BBQ joints, perfume and peanuts illegal (places that use peanut oil are deadly to those allergic, airborne particles)

Not sure I get it yet, RKZ, are you pro smoke, anti PC, anti "tellin' me what to do", or pro government regulation?

Well, we know it's not that last one.

Come on,,, tell us how you really feel.

Oh,,, and by the way,,,, Bless you!!!

I don't smoke anywhere someone might object, but did take advantage of smoking areas. I don't smoke anymore but was also aware of others around me when smoking. It's unfortunate, but like most things that can be managed with common sense a few morons are always around to mess things up.

I'm pro parent your own kid and pro anti-regulation.
People smoked in the 50s, it is moronic not to show it.
Leave parenting my kids to me.
I did not sneeze.

Speaking of...
I am sick to death of people getting fired for not being nice. Like the rugby players in Australia recently, Michael Vic (though he was over-rated), Imus getting fired before they ever saw if his ratings would go down or (OMG) UP, etc... you fill in the freaking blank!
For getting into legal trouble when their job is to win a sports game or act or something equally innocuous.
Their job is not to raise kids or set an example... it is to be paid to win, say their line on the X convincingly or ____ not be a role-model.
That is the parent's job or a teacher's or something similar.
I really wish I had money right now...

I really would buy a team, make one or just be a fan of a team that advertised "We are going to just get the best possible players we can... just that. That will be the ONLY think in their contract, WIN and we pay you."
Man, I would so wear that shirt.
They could be called The Winners! It would be AWESOME!

A basketball great said it best long ago..."it is not my job to raise your kids, I win games". Damn straight Charles.

OMG!!! I think my plumber just got a speeding ticket... out the door he goes!!!!

I'm getting excited about this... gonna' patent the idea...

A team that is built to win... just win. Get their players from all the others who were kicked-off the others for not being nice enough.
Their contract just says you win the game, comply with the rules of the league while on the field and in uniform and you are home free... that is all. It is not your job to raise people's kids.
Buy all the cars you want, get all the hoes pregnant you want, live in any hood you want, dress how you like in public, be seen in any strip joint you want, get any tattoo you want, blow-off an signing event you want, get your teeth plaited in gold and silver and your hair dyed blue and sign any endorsement you want... just WIN.
I am talking endorsements from adult companies... a team for adults, by adults, beer ads, unashamed hot cheerleaders who used to work in porn (or still do!), NO MASCOT... just the highest paying endorcer.... just WIN!
