Breathe On Uk was registered in 2004 at a launch under the auspices of David cameron MP at The House of Commons. We have just completed a study covering Long Term ventilation and children from 0.25 kg to 18 years needing breathing support for over three months. We have just restructured our new website DDA complient and need to hear from as many children young people with spinal injuries who require ventilator support. This can include the following CPAP BIPAP and tracheotomy ventilation and includes nocternal ventilation. WE are proactive and wish these families will be able to maximise their children's potential. and give their children the best quality of life. we are particularly hoping you will be able to inspire parents carers and of course the breathe On children to reach for new goals. are you or your family involved in Diving extremem sports or just ENJOYING ALL LIFE HAS TO OFFER. These children need possitive role models. if you would like to be invloved or talk to us for further info please contact me

My daughter Phoebe, suffered a complete SCI (C1-C3) 10 years ago as a result of a hit and run incident in Spain. She is 13 years old now and was 3 years and 3 months old at the time of the accident.

She is totally ventilator dependent and unable to move below her neck.

She attends mainstream school, has a wicked sense of humour, goes swimming, stalks Joe Jonas, has loads of friends and writes plays. She is a joy and inspiration to all who know her.

She spent 12 months in PICU at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children under the care of the sainted Dr Bob Taylor and his wonderful team. She has been at home for 9 years now, with only 1 unplanned hospital admission and 2 planned admissions. We are fortunate to have a care package supplied by our local Hospital & Community Trust which enables her to go to school and us to sleep at night.

She lives life to the full and makes the most of her situation. She is well adjusted and her sense of fun and determination to enjoy herself endears her to all who know her.
