Need Help Asap

I need new batteries for my Pacesaver scooter. Gel cell batteries at Canadian tire are $129 ea. I've heard of people usiiiiing garden tractor batteries. What size do I get and do they have as long a life as the gel cells? I always used to get 4 hours with my gel cells before they needed charging.
Please let me know the size and type that you use.....Carol
