what kind of cath do you use in a supra pubic??

is it just a foly or special kind?

I plan on getting one but dont know where to get the cath because I have no idea what kind is used.

I use a 20 FR, 5 CC all silicone catheter in mine. It's a standard foley catheter but larger then the ones I used when I had an indwelling foley catheter. I prefer the all silicone ones because they don't get the gunk/crud/whatever attached to the tips.

I tend to use a 12-16FR Bard Biocath for my patients in the community. I don't really like using the all silicone but if the person in question prefers it then that's fine. We always use the 10ml pre-filled because it saves time but I do find getting the clamp off the balloon is a nightmare sometimes!

Oh also... I vary in terms of what length catheter depending on the persons preference but you can use any length. I usually use the female ones for those who are bed bound and the male for those who want their leg bags strapped to thighs etc.
