Hi, just recently my legs have started to splay a little and it is getting on my nerves having to keep pulling them back in i know it may seem abit trivial but i would like to stop this from happening?
What i would like to know is if there is a cushion that has deeper contours to keep the legs in place i currently have a j2 deep contour and it is the only 1 that i have used and i would like to know if any body could recomend 1?

My Jay extreme came with little foam inserts to keep my legs in place. It's much like the deep contour that a started with ,except it's a little thiner and lighter. It has the same jel-insert I think. Only the contour is not as deep as the deep contour.
I had a hard time keeping the gel insert in place.I tried more velcro. I ended up gluing it in place.
Good luck
Dave

Hi Dave could you tell me the thickness of your cushion i have been looking at the difference between the jay range and it looks like i could get alot slimmer cushion i have never had a problem until now seems my legs just dont want to sit happy on the cushion any more it could be down to the weight of my legs getting lighter? i dont know? I think i should be able to have a check done to see if this cushion is still the best 1 for me.

I used a Jay Active for years, but recently needing a little more cushion for an old wound on my cocyx I switched to the Supracor StimuLite contour cushion. It's a honeycomb material, giving much better leg alignment & they're easy to maintain.

Good luck

Yes, Stimulite contour will do this for you.

Best cushion around IMO. Had it for years and just like new unlike those old gel seat POS.

I'm using a Jay Active with two wedge inserts pocketed at the front to stop my legs splaying. The wedges come in several different sizes. I use the max size with good effect.

I have a stimulte contour, and I also have a ride design. Both great cushions, both distribute weight good.
Go to: www.ridedesigns.com to see the ride design. It has wedges you can insert into the cushion so it fits you properly.
I have the opposit problem you do, my knees are locked tight, and none of the cushions I have tried have corrected the problem. At least I haven't had any pressure issues. I am about 1 1/2 years post injury.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

Toss the cover in the wash every few weeks. The cushion itself doesn't really get dirty as the cover is water resistant but when I think about it I will run water over it and maybe scrub with some shampoo while I am in the shower. Then to dry it quickly I will set it on top of a fan that is facing upwards and leave it for 30 min.

No Doug - You are not the only one using a High Profile Roho. I've been sitting on these since they first came out.

I have one leg (the broken one!) that turns out to the side due to a botched hip repair. (The surgeon actually pinned my femur in external rotation - duh.) I have tried stuffing foam wedges under and on top of the cushion (under the cushion cover) but nothing so far will keep that leg in place.

It's very interesting to see all the satisfaction with gel cushions. I tried one many years ago and found it did not work well for pressure relief and was really heavy. Roho has always been the cushion recommended to me as I have checked in with rehab folks over the years. Guess I need to do some investigation.

For those of you who use the gel cushions, how heavy are they nowadays and are they any more prone to leak than a Roho is to puncture?

Thanks!

You could try a Roho Contour Select cushion. You would get all of the benefits of a really good cushion for people at a high risk of skin breakdown, plus it's shaped to keep your legs together.
