Hi All,

I am writing this from an out of the way British Country Inn in Wark, Northumbria - Near Hexham. Found the place on the www - Battlesteads Hotel. We fancied a weekend break away from it all and our only priorities are wheelchair access and real ale, and this has both - is in a lovely area close to Hadrians Wall. It has 4, yes 4 ground floor accessible rooms. The management are great, approachable, and can't do enough to help. Food is fantastic, and best yet - no mobile phone reception! There is a landline in the room so you can choose whether to be in contact with the rest of the world, and as you can see there is Wifi in the bar area. :dunno:

All in all I can thoroughly recommend this place. Not too expensive either.

Hi Lucydog,
Just back from the weekend - a bit delicate today - didn't go to bed 'til 3 am this morning! If the Battlesteads is close you should give it a try, the food is great and they do a really good carvery on a Sunday (so I'm told, we didn't partake in that today).
I can wholeheartedly recommend this place - we will definitely visit again!
