I've just started my own business wheeliechix-chic it's high end fashion such as you would expect from designer wear, I took the designs to London Fashion Week but they said NO to my catwalk application, you don't get a reason it's just a yes or a no, but you could assume that the establishment is just not ready to take on board fashion for the disabled & the concept of beautiful women actually being models in wheelchairs.
Anyway to cut a long story short, I raised my own cash & held a fashion show during London Fashion Week, with 8 models all genuine wheelchair users all mainly tetra/paraplegic. I too am a wheelchair user, but not through paralysis, my new company specialises in fashion that compliments & enhances the shape of a woman's body when sitting, plus te designs have easier fastenings, wider sleeves for easier wheeling & other hidden comfort extras.
The shopping facility has just become live & it's really taken off & each day i'm inundated with women in chairs saying "Thank God we can look gorgeous", how important is fashion to you? We all make do with high street shops, but would you buy from a company such as mine?
Please take a look & let me know what you think.

Sure I want to look nice and I do have some problems with regular clothes looking not quite right when sitting as like you said most fashion is made for the wearer to be standing up.......well that isn't going to happen very much for me(can use forearm crutches for about 50-100ft), and we tend to have larger shoulders and arms then our AB counterparts. I'm not really into the high-end stuff though. I want to look nice and feminine, but still feel feel comfortable, and still afford it on a VERY limited and fixed income. Some of what I see in the fashion magazines and and fashion shows.........seem.......impractical and odd looking often. Oh well I guess my taste in fashion may not be what you were trying to appeal too; I'm more of a Wall-Mart kind of shopper. Very good thing though............having fashion that is more w/c friendly; regardless of personal fashion taste.

Really nice stuff, yes I would be interested as Im going to a mega wedding next summer.
Anyway I have real issues with what I wear as I suppose if you are still a size 8/10/12 and tallish you will still look good even from a chair. But Im 5'1 and size 16. Dont forget stomach muscles sag to start with and also my shoulders tend to be broader than averge and the tops of my arms bigger(though NOT fatter I might add!!LOL). I never know if its better to wear something longer in the body or shorter.
So to cut a long story short, certainly my body shape is a bit different to Mrs Average out there so you might want to consider some of these aspects in your designs.
Really lovely though..... Im tempted already!
cheers

I actually looked at your site a couple of weeks ago to see the photos of Jordan (she's a myspace friend and had behind the seen pics up on her page!)
I was really impressed..the clothes are beautiful and the girls look great. Fashion is really important to me..I love clothes and I like to look nice, even if i'm going to the grocery store. As i'm in Australia though, it's a little harder for me to use overseas sites..not to mention expensive!
Lucydog~ I went shopping for a dress to wear to a wedding (it's on the beach at the end of the month) today, what a nightmare!!! I made my sister try the dresses on which was wonderful of her as she NEVER wears dresses..lol..I couldn't believe how expensive everything was..I ended up buying a slim fitting, pale blue dress with spaghetti straps and beading all over it..very pretty!
Good luck with finding something to wear..maybe you should look at something that's fitting around the boobs but gently flares/falls out over your stomach..if you know what I mean!?

I really love your stuff! Very elegant! My favorite item is the Laguna Jacket-great longer coat that still looks great sitting down. I'm in grad school for SLP and always have trouble finding comfortable professional cloths!
Thanks for posting!

I'm afraid I agree with Wheeliebear75, a lot of us can't afford high end clothing.
For those who can and liked your designs, I'm afraid there may not be enough size/style choice available, unless you're just going for the tall slim market only.
Wheeliebear, I'll meet you at Walmart! (I have to admit, even when working, shopping for clothes was never my favorite thing.)
