I'm on Gabapentin 300mg three x's a day. It helps, but some days it's like I'm taking nothing. Plus, weight gain is a side affect. Just what I don't need.
My daughter is studying to be a RN and mentioned Topamax to me and said to ask the doctor about it. My problem will be not being able to afford it. I still have no health insurance.

. Sometimes I just try and put myself in a deep meditation. Shoot, I don't know. Whatever gets me through...besides anesthesia

I finally upped my dose of Lyrica from the max recommended dosage of 450 mg a day (150 tid) to 900 mg a day (300 tid) and felt a dramatic improvement in reduction of NP. I also take Cymbalta, an antidepressant, at 90 mg a day (30 tid). Unfortunately both of these are not generic so they are expensive.
Neurontin is a much dirtier drug and your body will develop a tolerance quickly. I've heard of patient's dosages exceeding 2000 mg a day. Not good. Another possible direction is an anti-epileptic like Keppra. Also expensive with some dangerous side effects.
There is no good solution, yet. Perhaps soon!!! In the meantime keep experimenting -- except for methadone.
Good luck!

I was also given Ultram as a break through med, has anyone tried this one? Once I read up on the drug myself and found out that you shouldn't mix it with any antidepressant I stopped that one quick! Lucky for my I still had my dilaudid. Sad to say I'm taking more of that to make up for the other med not working yet.
It's crazy how many drugs we need to be pain free or have a little less pain than before!
Does anyone now of any herbal pain relief???? Other than the one you smoke! hehe Like I said... interesting in having another child. I got lucky with the first one not coming out with any addictions, I don't want to risk it again.
Thanks!
