For the past couple of months I've run a low grade fever. I've had no other symptoms. My doctor told me last week that it has been shown in the past year or so that people with SCI can run a fever. Has anyone heard of this? I've been a T12 for 16 years and this is the first I've heard of this.

I've never heard of a fever without a reason. I would think that as a T12 that would be unlikely. Above T6 has the additional problem of interference with the regulation of temperature which any new research is more likely to refer to.
Don't trust my out-of-date info but also I'd think you should further question your doctor if it remains a problem.
And if your doctor can produce a source for the new info, we'd love to see it here.

as the person about me said there always has to be reason the only time I have ever had a fever is because I was sick besides that nothing

Sometimes there is somewhat of a fever but it's very minor compared to everything else of course I'm just expressing my opinion knowledge is power definitely keep researching as much as you can and tell your doctor as much as you can why happens when it happens

Hi,
Like the other posters, I am very intrigued! I have had a quick search of PubMed/NCBI/Medline, etc and haven't really found anything which is totally relevant to your query.. In my previous life ( as RN, lol) I have heard of pyrexia ( fever) in people with SCI due to sacroiliitis either alone or with abscesses. Also, when a person has underlying infections which would usually cause discomfort they may have a pyrexia before any other sign (including before pain induced spasms). However, the other posters are in my opinion correct, as you would think that pyrexia may be a symptom or precursor of 'mild' AD.
Just to add, that some conditions do have a characteristic of an underlying low to moderate pyrexia. These include Lupus ( SLE), Rhuematoid Arthritis, leukaemia and a whole host inbetween. Perhaps there has been some research which does pinpoint such a link with SCI/D or other Neuropathies. If you do find something out, I would be very interested in hearing about it.
