Perhaps a little off-topic, but I thought some might be interested to read this site. Keeping house from a wheelchair is difficult, to say the least, and although this site isn't specifically for the disabled, it does offer some good organizational skills and methods to keeping things under control.

If you're like me, you can only do things in fits and starts, and then only on the 'good days'. That's the beauty of this site's concept...it teaches you how to get the most out of every effort and how to start thinking of the work at hand a little differently, so you're not so overwhelmed.

Two things around this house really get me peeved. I used to a have "medium" sized refrigerator and it was fine. I could reach in and "reach" everything. After about 10 years it was starting to rust and then went on the fritz so I needed to replace it. To save money on the delivery (duh) my sister's husband volunteered to pick it up, deliver and set it up. When he went there he decided that bigger would be better so chose a larger size. I curse him everyday when I need to back into the fridge just to grab a coke from the lower back shelves!! And forget about the right-rear freezer stuff. I don't even forage there anymore unless I'm REALLY hungry.

And the damn thing doesn't set right and the door wants to automatically close on me. For able-bodied people (especially with kids!) this is probably the preferred way to have the door close. He tried to re-adjust the levelers once but to no relief. So I also curse him whenever the damn door bangs into my arm or my wheelchair while I'm pouring grape juice or whatever! :P I need to glue some velcro (scavenge it from my sneakers) onto the door handle and wall and that should fix it. But then I have to open it all the way. If it would just stay in place like my old one did I'd be fine!!!! Whoa is me Lord....

I needed to vent. Thank you for putting up with my adolescent whining.

"I used to complain because I had an oversized refrigerator with an annoying door until I met a man who had no refrigerator at all." Isn't that the old saying??... I coulda swore it had to do something with shoes and feet but I guess not.

I have a new Maytag fridge that is sort of funky. It has a split door, but not straight vertical. More like an 'h" on each side. The fridge door goes over my knees. The freezer has slide ot roller drawers so that is easy to get at too.

I'm pretty happy all around.

pa!.....damn fridges.....i tell you, the day i die will be the day that us wheelchair folk are given the same respect as every other abledbodied fridge user LOL

The thing i hate is the hoovering, somhow the lead always gets caught under my wheel. In work we've get this little hoover that were selling now that works on its own, its cool to look at and has a mind of its own, but when it comes to sucktion its pants,

the other day it decided to wheel itself off outside the shop, but it regreted it when it choked on a load of leaves,........stupid Beryl, oh by the way, thats what its called, beryl, it says so on the box.

Give it a few more years for the technology to increase, say beryl 6, or beryl 7, and then we wont need women, because beryll 7 will probably be able to dust and cook as well.

..................woh..........woh.........only joking.........honest!!!.......... :P

i reckon that caroline and hillary are probaly going to have somthing to say to me now..............ah..oh :)
That's what she said!

 :P Yes, I am woman....hear me roar!! :)

My user name is a bastardization of parts of my own name and my husband's, the result being, unintentionally, my Dad's name.

LOL...now you may have to go back and re-read all of my posts?

I'll settle for what I have.

I would have a hard time without my wife to do the physical work, and she would have a hard time without me to deal with the mental (book/finances/computer) work. We strike a balance.

Ahh Wheelie, you just need a 300 lb russian farm girl taht can pick you up beat some sense into you..."You vill make love to me NOW little boy." :P
