My son was injured last November in truck crash and is now labeled "quadraplegic". He spent four months at Craig Hospital and has small amount of movement, but not controlled in right hand.
We would like to do a fundraiser and send him to Project Walk. He is/was healthy, outdoorsman and pilot.
The Project Walk website is phenomenal, however I haven't seen much data on there in terms of success rate. Do any of you have an opinion about Project Walk and/ or do you think monies could be spent better elsewhere. We are not rich.

Also, in Missouri, there are little benefits for son who is collecting SSDI which is really not enough for anything once we pay a nurse for bowel program, etc. Are there funds to tap into that we just don't know about? We are fairly new at this process.

thank you,
Mary Gulick

Im not sure this qualifies as "HOT POT" material. Unless we all start fighting over your son!

I dont know much, if anything, about the financial services offered to you. I just know the usual bit. Im in Texas, we have Medicaid. Im not subject to Federal assistance. Just state. So I couldnt help you much there. But I can suggest you just spend some time your doing homework. Ask the social workers from Craig Hospital, and check out Google.

As for Project Walk, I've heard a lot of good things about them also. I looked into them, and I'm liking the trial week they offer. There is a few more SCI Rehab centers focused on Recovery around the U.S. I favor the Rehab Institute in Michigan, and plan on attending myself. Go check out google. Try 'SCI REHAB, RECOVERY' in the search engine, or something along those lines. You will find all kinds of useful information, and also lots of guidance!

Good Luck!
