This has got to be the HOTTEST vehicle I've seen here. For the Karmann Ghia, there are ways to make the manual trans usable. Electronic clutch actuation via a trigger on the shifter, and several different gas/brake configurations. I have an old VW engine/trans in a sandrail, and I have a setup for it on the way. If I knew how the hell to make pictures show up here, you could see this stuff, but I will post them on myspace as soon as it's done.

Thanks, she's a bunch of fun to drive...I have looked into a pneumatic/hydraulic actuator for my clutch, but there by no means cheap or easy to integrate...I'll get around to it one of these day's I guess.

I'm using an electric actuator for the clutch, similar to the electric shifters on motorcycles, and a ATV gas trigger and the old school hand brake lever. total cost for the adaptions is a bit over $1,000 if you install it yourself.

I have bekker hand controls, which I think are the most common and straightforward type. I also have switch on the main arm of the controls for my indicators (this is a photo I found online and not my actual car).

I drive my lil 2-door. I love it, so much space. My bf has a shelby GT-500 that's been modified that i also drive. I can drive a stick w/ no prob!!! So no hand controls and no stipulations!! But i am looking to get a SUV for kids and even more space purposes. I also need something to hall the bikes, and other things around.

Well, it depends on where exactly you live. Like aren't some made in Germany, japan, and so on, meaning that if they were made in the country that you are living in, they are cheaper. And i'm not sure what the exchange rate is between us. I don't have a clue how many euros it takes for dollars, or vice versa!

Karen; I did the vote,"Other" is the only one that applies. Just purchased my 3rd GMC Sierra 4X4, 2009 with leather and all the goodies. Why? Because I'm 6'5" and I don't have the ability to fold myself like a freshly ironed shirt to fit in a compact. But truly; I have done the 2 door thing 28 years ago, then two mini-vans which were bad choices altogether; trucks work well if they have suicide doors. Using KAFOs allows me to transfer from my chair to the seat with a small amount of effort, then pull my chair in behind the seat. Until you've done it and lived with 4X4 in the North East, you wouldn't have it any other way. Our other car is a 2008 Yukon, this allows our family of 4 to travel comfortably, even with both my chair and our daughters; theres room for the suitcases. Don't forget the hand controls that appear to be in your lap in a smaller car, even though the legs don't work, I'd like them to still be there after any collision. I might add that they both have Active Fuel Management, which at cruising speed turns your big V8 into a 4-cylinder!
