HI ladies and gents, (joed being in the ladies section of course)

I dont know whether to feel guilty or proud today, some a** parked in the disabled spot right next to mine, not only with out a disbaled badge but so far out of his spot that he was loads into mine, and i couldn't open the door without banging his door, and when getting in, i made a slight scratch on his sported up 206, and i just drove off,

i mean its not my fault is it? :(

what would you do?? :)

ps if you dont agree with me, i'll send you nasty PM's :P :D
That's what she said!

At the risk of getting nasty PM's... :D ....you probably already know that the most honorable thing to do would be to leave a note with contact information....

BUT...having said that, the other driver had some known consequences to parking too close, not to mention parking illegally to begin with. I guess he was willing to take that risk.

Don't beat yourself up too much about it, wheelie. Unless, of course, you were trying to 'accidently' ding up his door...then that's another story. But I doubt that that was the case.

I'll bet he'll think twice about doing it again! Education can take many forms. :P :)

Hi wheelie,

I wouldn't feel guilty or proud as long as you took some care to avoid scratching his paint. And of course (as Joed alluded to) if it truly was an accident. Perhaps it was a Freudian paint slip. :P

Hey, had you scratched the paint on your wheelchair (or your car) because his negligence and insensitivity (and illegal parking) forced you into an awkward transferring position as you tried your best not to scratch his car, do you think he'd volunteer to pay to have it repainted? I think not.

Or suppose you had fallen and gotten hurt?

I'm more or less a law and order guy but sometimes poetic justice comes along and discretion plus a quick getaway can be the better part of valor. :D

Screw him... maybe he'll learn from his mistake and next time not park where he shouldn't.

If you feel guilty my husband should too! Some jacka## parked in front of the handicap ramp at our favorite restaurant. We found out they weren't handicapped so my husband ran his chair into their van and did just as much damage to their car as he did to his wheelchair. Instead of having a blue wheelchair, he now has a blue wheelchair with a huge silver scratch down the front frame!

At least you tried to avoid it unlike my hubby. The curb was too big for him to jump and he was pissed so he just ran his chair into their car. Then he starts yelling for them to come outside. He has a bit of a temper. I was basically hiding because I was so embarrassed!

F*ck him.

I take the skin off peoples ankles in supermarkets if they don't get out of my way once they know I'm there.

I haven't been injured that long but I already get annoyed by the amount of times I can't park in a disabled space because of some idiot. Scratching their car is the least you can do.

I feel justified in this because I never parked in disabled bays before I was injured.

proud! This guy parked in the last hanicapped space he parked so crooked that i couldnt get out from the side. I blocked out traffic so far. I poured pop rocks and diet soda in his seatand it looked really cool.

I laughed at the thread especially shannons. So should i feel guilty for laughing?
It reminded me of a time when i scraped an evening meal over a then boyfriends jag. And he deserved every last scrape of the plate.
So maybe the offending public who park in disabled bays should watch out for me. But it usually my partner who scares them into moving if they are still at the crime scene.
I wouldn't feel gulity. i would just go 'whoooops'..

i have been driving for a few months since that last post, and i have seen a lot of people park like pr##ks, so now if i scratched their car i wouldn't give a sh#t, the other day i had to get in the passenger side, because their was no way to get in on the drivers side, and i really wanted to cause some mischif, but i couldn't because there was a cctv right on our cars, i don't know what i would have done, but then i suppose it wouldn't have been any fun, because you really need to leave a note, so the owner knows why it happened,

Too bad...

Maybe next time the other guy will think twice before parking in a disabled space. This gets me sooooooo mad. There have been so many times when we've gone out and have just turned around and gone home again because of non-disabled people parking in disabled spots. One of our friends actually took this a step further and had a whole load of stickers mad with a disabled symbol - the sticker says "I don't have legs, thanks to you I don't have a parking spot either" (sounds way better in Hebrew) and whenever this happens to him he sticks the sticker on the windshield of the offending car.... It still happens all the time though but it helps him with his frustration :P

Hi Rosalie
Where did your friend get the stickers from? Sounds like a good idea! But i doubt if it would deter some folk.

Hi Mish,

He actually went to a printing place and had them made especially. No, I don't think it deterred anybody but it made everyone who used the stickers feel a tiny bit better.... :P

This is so funny cause I was having a simular discussion with my local friends BBS. You can click here to read it. Houston Sportbike Network

I found a guy that is going to give me a ticket book so I can write my own parking tickets. I just have to take the 4 hour class and I am in.

Personally, I would be neither proud nor guilty in this situation of scratching the car. I carry a gun with me and I would be tempted to pop a few holes in it. Then I would have been proud.

Also, if you live in the US, if there is a situation like that, you can notify the store manager. If nothing is done, it is a violation of your civil rights via the ADA. Just let them know that next time. Seems to open their eyes up a bit more.
