Up the stairs

Tried bumming up my nans stairs a few weeks ago and got 10 steps up and the fear factor kicked in :dunno: My spasms would laung my legs out straight everytime I went up a step...

Anyways I gave it another go and made it all the way to the top :)

Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be :)

Heres some pics :)

WOW!!! Very impressive. Bumping up stairs is my current goal. I would like to get into my daughter's house for Thanksgiving.
I am having trouble bumping up the stairs because my arms are too short. I have to get arm extenders (wooden blocks would do) and try again. I did, however, go up and down two flights of stairs in my wheelchair when I was in therapy. I only wish I had pictures of that. I won't be doing that again.

I wish I could do that.. But on my way I'm sure, if one of my family member would see me, he/she would offer to just carry me.. Then if I say no, he/she would ask me if Im sure. If I say yes Im sure, he/she would watch me. That would bug me a lot. It happens all the time. Like when I scrub the floor or sweep the floor, they would offer. That's why if I do that, I'll do that when Im sure I am alone..

Getting back in the chair was not a problem, i just stopped at the second from last step put my chair infrount of me facing away, put my feet over the back rest an came in for a landing. I have gone up in rehab but not yet in the real world. good work ryan :poo:

Don't let the spasms put you off too much. They scared me a bit the first time as every time I went up a step my legs flew out straight and my somach muscles pulled me forward so I thought I was going to nose dive down the stairs.

That time I just relaxed, relaxed my body and breathing etc. and I didn't spasm at all. I could feel them coming but if I relaxed they didn't actually trigger off.

That's just great to see. I remember having to do that. Luckily, I have been getting much better as time progresses. Time is your friend.

Nice job! I can't tell you how many times I've crawled up stairs. Once at a football game (gotta love concrete) and so many times at friends and relatives houses. Once time I even crawled up the stairs at the Gamble House in Pasadena. I was on a trip for my 'tours' class for interior design. The tour started to head up stairs and I was like "F - that! I want to see the upstairs too!" So I planted my butt on the first step and there I went (I had a friend haul my chair up after me). Kind of embarrassing but totally worth it. Going down was a lot easier - that you gravity.

I know you felt like the king of the world the first time you did it , but think long term and of the wear on your shoulders. I concoured my stairs and every thing I possibly could and ended up wearing my shoulder out and Im gonna need it if I want to stay out of a pawer chair.

I'm not trying to disccorage you because it is a major acomplishment and I hope you continue to have advancements but take care of what you got cuz it's got to last the rest of your life and your still young.
got a light?
