As I currently have a RGK chair I have received an invitation to their Open Day at their head office in UK on Saturday 1st December. They are offering 15% off new chairs ordered on the day. Here's the link:
http://www.rgklife.com/christmas/

I have no other connection to RGK, other than owning one of their chairs, so I have no ulterior motive, just thought I would let y'all know about it and if you live close by you may want to go have a look see - ex-demo and second hand chairs also on sale.

I am planning to go - might see some of you there?

Thanks Deej,

We may try and go along and have a look! It would be good to look at their lightest titanium chairs! We are not too far away from Staffordshire, well a couple of hours from the border, so it may be doable if I can get a babysitter. The only thing is, I am sure to really want something which is probably out of our budget and will probably cause more hassles....lol...

The hassle bit is b/c I am in the middle of getting a new chair from the w/chair service ( voucher method as far as I know, unless they surprise me lol).

However, It is becoming a very, very slow process, probably because my needs have changed necessitating a new chair as opposed to it being my first. I suppose they think at least I have one! The thing is my needs have changed quite a bit...and the more I think of this the more I just feel like going and getting a chair independently..However I am sure to bum up if I do..lol

LOL, oh well, I do fancy having a gander at whats on offer and getting a feel for the RGK chairs if nothing else..so

Thanks again,

Take care,

K

Well, I went to the open day yesterday. Picked up some new castor wheels and ordered new upholstery and side guards, all with 15% discount, so not too bad. I was a bit disappointed they didn't have any new chairs on show to get a good look at, as I would have liked to try some out. But never mind, with the new bits I've bought it'll feel a bit like a new chair !

Anyway we incorporated a trip to the motorcycle show at the NEC while we were down that way and spent another few hundred pounds, so all in all a very enjoyable day.

Hi Deej,

Glad that you had a good day. I didn't know that they sold the upholstery. Do you mean the actual material, or is it the seat/back in entirety? Sorry to be so nosey.

In the end I couldn't get there as I had family over and my kids were all psyched for that. Hubby was out so couldn't just escape alone!

Thankfully, the w/chair service seem to be speeding up a bit....so maybe not all is lost....

Thanks for posting re: the event though. I hope that you got something fab from the m/cycle show!

Take care,

K

Hi,

For upholstery read seatback - complete. Sorry to confuse. Glad to hear your wheelchair service team are 'pulling their finger out'.

Good luck! :H2kOther (26):

Hi Deej,

Thanks! I will need the luck!

I am feeling a little more confident as the OT who is at the w/chair services which I am using is a new one to the area and she is apparently very Client Orientated. By all accounts she knows how to justify more NHS funding for each voucher etc...
I have spoken to another service user and also to the Guy who works there who orders the chairs. He is like a service manager of sorts. He was so good last time trying to make the best of a bad situation as the last OT was terrible. I have my chair on order and am waiting for it to arrive. Not sure how much I have to put on the credit card yet!- been avoiding that one.. I am having a Titanium chair due to my dislocations.

Ta for clarifying the upholstery thing for me. I thought that is what you meant but I didn't want to presume and was intrigued! How long do you expect to wait for the seat back? I'm glad that you got to utilize the discount. Pity I didn't go, as I could have been sitting here wondering If I saw you there! LOL

Ta again,

Take care,

K

You know I never even asked how long it would take to get my new stuff delivered, Doh ! I'm not in any hurry though. The new back is just a slightly different style to the current one, with more padding, so hopefully high on comfort.
