hiya,
I can't comment on the "Aktiv" gloves you have purchased, but I can give my experiences on the others..If they perform similarly then it may be of some use.
I have the Wet Weather Wheelchair Gloves from Globaleather.
The Globaleather wet weather gloves don't have the gel pads, but instead they have like a rough to the touch grip...The "Aktiv" gloves you have seem to be more like the G/leather "Standard" gloves.
Firstly, The downloadable chart they have for measuring your hands worked great!, it put me at x-small and I was skeptical ( I have long fingers,) but it was very accurate. My only issue with the size is that the thumb bit sometimes feels a bit cosy so to speak..but it depends on my thumb nail length..I know it could be the same with any glove but I think that the leather is particularly rigid on the Wet Weather Gloves. Just being picky here!
They are great gloves for the wet, but I don't find them that easy to get on. In my case it is probably more to do with the fact that my fingers dislocate, especially my thumb, which makes it more of a performance! So those with reduced finger dexterity would also be affected.
In all honesty I did get bike gloves at first. My hubby is a keen cycle nut and I got some similar to his. Unfortunately, although some were a fraction of the price ( an they are expensive!) and readily available, they didn't have adequate padding/reinforcement where its really needed!
Ultimately, I don't tend to wear gloves (and especially not 'pushing' type gloves) unless it is wet etc etc. When its lashing it down for instance; and I do wear them I like the fact that they are fingerless but with the 'protection' where its really needed, at the palm and a covered thumb.
I have had my gloves about a year maybe more and I use them a lot in the wet weather..Got to love the UK weather huh? So they get quite a bit of use and the thumbs are bearing up well! I can still feel the thumbs getting 'hot' when i am trying to stop on an incline for instance, so they feel like they are doing their job. To look at, they are scuffed and a little softened rather than cracked at the thumb but its not 'damaged' them or their performance.
I hope that your "Aktiv" gloves are as good as the Globaleather ones and even surpass them! The important thing is that you like them and that they are fit for function..
looking at the links, the "Aktiv" gloves are about the equivalent of £14 all inc. compared to £18 + £2 P&P ( Globaleather wet weather gloves).. Calculated with a current exchange rate of £1 = €1.40
I would be interested in hearing how they compare!
Take care,
K
