It's raining outside right now, and it just reminded me of a funny story that happened to me a few years ago.

I was in college and was getting into my car (my old Honda Civic) after a long day of classes. It was raining and because idiots had parked in the closest handicapped spaces I was forced to park pretty far away and kind of on a hill. So, I'm wet and annoyed and just frankly want to get home as fast as possible. I transfer quickly into my car and take my backpack off my chair. As I turn around to place my soggy backpack on one of the back seats my chair manages to roll away. Silly me, I didn't put my brakes on (and hardly every do while transferring - what a silly low para I am)!

My mind races. Did that just happen? I gaze longingly at my chair kind wedged between the front end of a car and the median. No one is around to come to my aid (this time I would like someone to actually help me). I contemplate about crawling to my chair (it's about 6 feet away, but it's now raining quite heavily and that doesn't seem appealing. I also think about driving to it (I am in a car after all), but the position of my chair makes it hard to get to with out running into the trees and median. Finally, I see two girls off in the distance. I start yelling "EXCUSE ME! EXCUSE ME!" One girl stops and looks around. I yell "OVER HEAR! Can one of you please help me get my wheelchair!" They come to my aid and bring my completely soggy chair me. To my surprise they leave quickly not offering to help me get my chair into my car (thank goodness). So, I pack up my chair and leave a bit bemused by what just happened.

Hope you enjoyed this little story.

I've had that happen more then once. It's a very odd feeling seeing your chair roll away. LOL+

LOL Karen,

Seems a lot of us have that happen!

Ever noticed that when you 'face plant' out of the chair, it rolls backwards so its too far to just 'grab' back?
