hallo again am i just plain stupid/unlucky,i was in the hospital today having a check up on a pain in my chest/back and talking to the nurse,it was a surreal situation, as the words came out of my mouth i could'nt believe it had happened to me and i felt almost like i was making it up
it went like this-about twenty years ago i worked in a factory which had been newly built and was'nt quite finished yet,i made some coffee for work colleagues they were working on a 30ft platform,i shouted up the ladder to them 'tea up' a wooden palllet had been placed vertically at the edge of the platform and one of them accidentally kicked it,i heard a shout, looked up and it was falling directly on top of me from a height of about 30ft,i ducked and the full force caught me across the shoulder blades and flattened me to the floor!
i went home and in the evening went to the doc who said i had a neck vertebrae out of place and then proceeded to 'twist' my neck,i felt a click and laid in bed for the next few days, when i got up i was stiff all over i did'nt go back to work but eventually won a £1000 settlement out of court.

about fifteen years ago i was doing some weight training in my bedroom,i lifted a fairly heavy barbell above my head and felt a 'tear' in my chest,it was aching for about a week after that then settled down so i did'nt think much about it.
In 2001 i fell from a first floor building onto concrete resulting in an L1 lesion, when i had the x-ray the doctors told me i had an old break about the region of my shoulder blades [can't remember level] so this may have been the old accidents
the ache i have now is due to pushing a table in my house and the nurse said it is muscle strain, make a change!!! :badmood:

O my goodness, I think you are a bit of both. sure thing unlucky and a bit stupid for not picking up on the fact that things could be serious, and not investigating. I would not bother to do the lottery, the way your luck goes.

Whoa, you are an accident magnet, just be careful going outside when it rains - you don't want to get hit by lightening. :badmood:

Also, your construction accident sounds a lot like my husband's accident. He was standing on a hill and a wooden form about the size of a door got picked up by a big gust of wind and blew right into his neck. Crazy stuff.

it's amazing how some people can have a massive accident car/plane crash and walk away and others fall over a pavement etc with serious consequences

You are so right, my husband dove out of a boat and has a SCI. When I was a little kid, we were going down the road another vehicle hit us. I flew out of the back of the truck landed in the middle of the road and all I got was allot of road rash. :wink05:

No kidding! My brother had an accident last week. He slid off the road (it was raining) and rolled his truck 4 times down a very steep hill. Dummy wasn't wearing a seatbelt. He would have walked away without a scratch had he not cut his pinky climbing out of the windsheild!

That is amazing. At least looked like I had been in an accident, I had road rash on my head, knees, arms and heiney (it was not fun when I had to sit down). :yahoo: I guess it is true what they say kids bounce. I can blame my parents for letting me ride in the back of the truck (this was the 80's so the were no law against it), no seat belt your brother is one very lucky guy! I bet he does not temp fate like that again.

strange thing luck, I considered my daughter lucky, she had a bad road accident rolled a car completely smashed up. all they thought she had was a bit of whiplash and glass in her arm. so over night stay in hospital, I drove to the west country to pick her up back to work and carried on for about 6-7 years, but she had problems with numbness and pins and needles and falling down suddenly, not looked into as she had a knee problem local doctor thought it was due to acl rupture not being repaired properly, when she then added foot drop, they decided to send her to Stanwell, well know hospitial in the uk for spinal probs. they thought maybe MSisfter scan they operated very quickly c5 c6 rods in and bone from the hip. said they thought they had managed to stop the deterioration, and she walks with crutches,. and still works. lives on her own but has BSS and lymphodema, so life not easy, but she is lucky not in a wheelchair, and I hope it lasts, but no gurantees. as I said strange thing luck, but of course life has changed a lot for her
