So, I'm a C 4/5/6 quad, and I have a question about cathing. I am wondering about different ways to cath. Right now when I need to pee, my mom or my sister will cath me, and that's not a big deal when I'm home, but when I want to go out with friends I always have to bring someone along who knows how to cath me. It's really a situation that depresses me and keeps me from being more independent.

What I'm wondering, is there anything I can do that would make going out easier for me without having to bring someone who knows how to cath me? Is there any type of leg bag or anything like that? Where it wouldn't be too personal for someone to help me?

Any advice would be great!

Thanks!

indwelling catheters are what attach to leg bags. they are handy, but not the most discret.

There is also supra pubics or mitrofanoff, but they are more permenent.

They do Mitrofanoff procedures anywhere in Canada I wonder? I know, I go to the Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia and they told me about that procedure there, but I wasn't sure if it was a widely know thing. I am soon 21 and wont be able to attend the Shriners Hospital after that, so I thought that I'd lose my chance to get it done after that.

A bit less then a year and a half ago. I didnt actually get it done, not yet anyway. Apparently most facilities that do the procedure have really long waiting lists.
