Hi..
On the 7th of July at about 12 o clock at night i was on a trampoline jumping around with some friends of mine. As i jumped i landed with my neck on the trampoline and had a huge pain in my back, i could barely walk. Anyway the next day i went to the hospital because i was in pain.. They took x-rays of my back and immidiately put me in a bed.. The told me i had a fracure L1 .. I'm 18 years old btw. The had me in hospital for 11 days and during the 11 days they didnt allow me to get off bed. After the 11 days the made me buy this type of a belt that covers my whole back.. They told me to wear the belt for 3 months.. I just wanted to ask you if my problem will ever be fixed completely because now i am in the army. The army in my country is compalsory for 2 years and its a bit hard in the army for me. If this problem i have will never be fixed then i can get away with the army but the doctors in the army dont tell me anything because they dont wont me to leave.. I was hoping someone can help me please.
If you need any other info tell me.
Thanks

Hi Ugly,
If you only have a fracture, with no damage to the spinal cord or peripheral nerves, then you should make a full recovery.
You must heed the advice of the doctors though, and wear your back brace as instructed for your back to heal properly. If you don't, and the fracture becomes unstable, you could end up damaging nerves or worse, the spinal cord.
3 months may seem like a long time to wear the brace, but don't be tempted to leave it off, otherwise you could have a lifetime of pain.
I presume from your ip number, you are from Cyprus, I'm not sure how the health system works out there, but if the medics think you will make a full recovery, they will probably want you to continue with your service in the military.
Regards
Simon.

Hi and thanks for replying.
Yes i am from Cyprus. I am sure that there was no damage on the nerves but on the spinal cord i am not sure. The doctors in the hospital told me not to go the army but the army doctors just dont care. 1 week ago i was punished with 2 days to stay in the army base because i couldnt bend and fix my bed proparly...

Hi Ugly.....
The brace your wearing right now,I presumed that's JEWIT BRACE and the other type is CORSET.It protects you to avoid get worst the fractured. You should wear it specially when you're mobilising, take off when you're on bed to sleep. And there's a limitation to your movement?Like bending and lifting.
As doctors say's you need to wear it for 3 months, coz there's a fractured that will heald by itself without any surgery. But you need that brace to protect and hold on still the fractured and also to minimize the movement of the damage L1.
And careful to your movement as well.
You should know also the Do's and Dont's activities.
Have a Nice day.
