Anyone been to Vegas in a chair or with someone in one? I heard it is pretty accessible--just wanted some opinions! Thanks in advance...

I don't think a place gets anymore accessible. Been many times and go at least every year.

The wife and I were in Vegas last month and yes, it is very accessible. The only thing to keep in mind is all the construction projects. The area between Bellagio and NY, NY was kind of rough, but I was still able to push it. I pushed up to TI and it was ok, but I think there was more construction further up the strip, across from the Riveria. Consider the monorail if you don't want to push on the Strip. No problems with the gambling tables, they have some that are lower than others. We also did a show and saw the Bodies exhibit with no problems. Have fun if you go.

Hi, We were there just before Thanksgiving week and it was my first trip needing a wheelchair so of course I was nervous. The airlines could not be more helpful and we were only there for a couple days and had decided to stay on Fremont St. to see that area which is awesome!!! We stayed at the Golden Nugget and went in and out of the other casinos with no problems. We are definitely going back someday but will probably stay on the main part of the strip so we can get to see other hotels. Hope your trip goes well. Jim

What the above posters said is true. Vegas is quite accessible, however, there are some places where AB's might be able to simply walk up some stairs over a bridge (the bridges going across busy street intersections) you'll on the other hand have to find out where the elevator is - this is a bit confusing and frusterating at times on a crowded street corner. Ah, and yes ... the crowds. Be prepared for lots of people. This can get a bit annoying and tiresome after a bit.

I also have some blog posts about Vegas. Feel free to read them if you want:

Oh, and I highly recommend seeing 'Spamalot' at the Wynn - quite fun!

THANKS for the advice and comments. It went so so well. I think it must be one of the most accessible places in the world! The trip went without a single glitch--even the airport/plane trip was fine. :-) Happy Holidays!

What airline did you fly? I hate having to use that aisle chair to transfer onto the plane. I call it the Hannibal Lector chair.

But when I fly Southwest they don't have a first or upper class section at the front of the plane or assigned seating so my regular chair can get me to the first row of seats where I can transfer myself. The other airlines I have flown do not do this and I have to go through a hassle of them getting the aisle chair (they seem to not be able to find), get all strapped in 5 ways from Sunday to go 10 feet, the airplane seat may not have a arm rest that can be lifted up so I have to jump over it and sometimes my assigned seat is the middle or window so I then have to jump over another armrest.

Just all more hassle than it needs to be. So the best option I have found is a direct flight with Southwest. No extra layovers so you have to do all this more than once and a easy 1st row seat.

Yeah, we flew Southwest as well. This was the first time we have flown anywhere since his accident, so I don't know about other airlines. I have heard it's a mess! I am definitely impressed with Southwest though. His chair wasn't damaged at all and they were nothing but friendly to us both. I am wondering what they do if someone is in all the front row seats though....I guess make people move or carry you back to another seat?

They would just ask them to move back. But all airlines should let you board first to prevent that from happening. Always check in with gate person so they can tag your chair and be aware you will need special attention.

On United I have been upgraded to the first class area if there were seats available.
