Patrona Bavariae - by Original Naabtal Duo

Ok, ok - pretty kinky stuff. As I said: Have a few pints or Maß - sounds better then. And go on singing:
"Patrona Bavariae - führ' mich durch unser Land!" ("Patron Saint of Bavaria, lead me through our country!")

I've never looked at this topic before, so I missed this.

Sorry, Jenny. Call me silly or sentimental, but I rather like the song. O.K., the bit about his losing his girlfriend was stupid, but when he sings "when I feel sorrow and my hope fails, Patrona Bavariae hold me in your hand", that touches something in me. Poor Konrad Adenauer, how he must be rolling in his grave. He feared contamination from the Godless Americans on his God-fearing German people. How shocked he would be, today.

spot, nice to hear you liked it. When I'm in the right mood, I do sing along - but my children are all aghast then ("Do STOP!!").

Adenauer? He preferred his friendship with the French - de Gaulle, didn't he?

But so many other politicians do treasure our friendship with Americans! Mrs Merkel, too.

And the common people? I think you know, having lived in Germany for so long, spot. There is a lot of criticism of political matters (we do criticize our OWN politicians, too, BTW) - but we do LOVE Americans, their music, their films, their jeans ... We talk English all day long (mixed with our German). Schön, dass es euch Amis gibt! (Good to know you're out there, you Americans!)

I remember being stared at, sworn at and spit on. Maybe some Germans liked Americans, one of my co-workers said she accepted the Americans, since otherwise they would have the Russians (this was in 1978). I never met any of them. I'd like to see Germany again. England, too, some day. I understand things have changed. But that is the way of the world. I've changed, too.

Oh, pretty shocking. I'm sorry you received such a treatment. The 70s and 80s would be the time of Anti-Americanism in Germany, probably. Peace movement and such? There still is a strong peace movement but most certainly things have changed a lot. Americans are well liked in Germany (by most people). When Obama was in Berlin before being elected president, he was greeted with enthusiasm. You should really try and come over some day! Be sure to come to my place and meet me. It would be a pleasure.

A sign of all our societies lost tolerance

Prime Minister Julia Gillard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks..

Separately, Gillard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying she supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote:

'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.. Take It Or Leave It.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians. '

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

The basics though are true for any and all immagrents
You move to another country - you adopt there ways
I'm fortunate enough to have lived in many countries, and I always adapted to suit thier customs, if they are nice enough to put up with me, I can reciprocate

The USA is built from immigrants, but when they start complaining and abusing our freedoms

Point taken Plank
But I can only pass on jokes I recieve, cant vouch for thier origins
The sentiment though is a issue that is growing within many societies and I for one would hate for race hatred to start all over again
Trouble is that people who immigrate for a better life don't leave thier baggage back at thier place of origin and peick up new baggage at thier place of arrival
I for one can see this problem growing....not that I want to though

Tequila

A man walks into a bar, notices a very large jar on the
counter, and sees that it's filled to the brim with $10 bills.
He guesses there must be at least ten thousand dollars in it. He approaches the bartender and asks, "What's with the money in the jar?"

"Well..., you pay $10, and if you pass three tests, you get all the money in the jar and the keys to a brand new Lexus."

The man certainly isn't going to pass this up, so he asks, "What are the three tests?"

"You gotta pay first," says the bartender, "those are the rules."

So, after thinking it over a while, the man gives the bartender $10 which he stuffs into the jar.

"Okay," says the bartender, "here's what you need to do:

First - You have to drink a whole quart of tequila, in 60 seconds or less, and you can't make a face while doing it."

"Second - There's a pit bull chained in the back with a bad tooth. You have to remove that tooth with your bare hands."

"Third - There's a 90-year old lady upstairs who's never had sex. You have to take care of that problem."

The man is stunned! "I know I paid my $10 - but I'm not an idiot! I won't do it! You'd have to be nuts to drink a quart of tequila and then do all those other things!"

"Your call," says the bartender, "but, your money stays where it is."

As time goes on, the man has a few more drinks and finally says, "Where's the damn tequila?!"

He grabs the bottle with both hands and drinks it as fast as he can.
Tears stream down both cheeks - but he doesn't make a face - and he drinks it in 58 seconds!
Next, he staggers out the back door where he sees the pit bull chained to a pole. Soon, the people inside the bar hear loud growling, screaming, and sounds of a terrible fight - then
nothing but silence!

Just when they think that the man surely must be dead, he staggers back into the bar. His clothes are ripped to shreds and he's bleeding from bites and gashes all over his body.
He drunkenly says, "Now... where's that old woman with the bad tooth?"

Oh, where's Jim, gloating?? Was close...just as the mobsters ordered...but you don't really think they make up all those hats and shirts and rings for both teams, do ya? It was already determined who would win, by the Boss, and it plays out how would best pay out for them, least for the little people...it is all about money, and the players must do as told, not really play their best, etc....oh, I am so sorry I burst your bubble...were you really that naive??

Glad you enjoyed the game and that your team "won" this time...

Hey, Jim--I'm not far from Martinsville (or Bristol, for that matter, where my brother has season tix)...com'on over and catch a couple races then shoot to Daytona, or Charlotte; being located in VA is central not only to the Bible belt (dammit at times...) but NASCAR heaven. And drinks are on YOU, pal, since your team beat mine last week (I'm from Pgh, currently in VA due to serious family illness, and most of family is either from here or down here, too, and NASCAR nuts...I'd rather work on a car than watch it go 'round in circles--yes, I'm a female mechanic, amateur to be sure, but capable and love doing it nonetheless, learned at my daddy's knee--but that's just the way I'm wired, I guess...missed the race gene and got the "fix-it" one instead and still haven't figured out how to combine them).

I'll have a Corona, thanks...

Thanks for the beer, Jim--it went down smoothly on a very warm afternoon yesterday...and it's gonna get warmer today and as the week goes on. Yup, it's Redneck Heaven, and I'm right at home--northern born but southern bred to the bone--surrounded by hunters, sports fanatics (the only thing I'm seriously missing is hockey, but I can stream the Pens), Bible-thumpers (gotta love, 'em, really) and people who THINK they are NASCAR drivers on the back roads around here! I swear, Virginians are the nicest bunch you'd ever want to meet and will "honey" and "darlin;" and "sweetie" you into a puddle of goo....as long as they're not behind the wheel of ANY kind of vehicle--then they're New Yorkers! Ah well, I can't complain too much--I drive like that, too! Then I get to work the dents and dings out and let my frustration vent with a series of :censored:

really really bad words I also learned at Daddy's knee the same time I learned how to fix a car.

Hey, Kiwi--save a hit for me? Redneck Heaven doesn't mean smokin' (unless it's your tires or tobacco or your meat) but it does mean drinkin'

S&W, we're mostly electric here, too--and :mfromg: the cost! What a shock...glad I'm not paying for it! But when I'm comin' your way, with or without Jim in tow, I'll holler at you; would much rather go to Daytona and chat up the mechanics than any of those overgrown (and often scary) cartoon-nightmare characters...can ony take "It's a small world, after all" so many times before my head implodes--ah, anybody seen the "duck" tape? I gotta leak behind my left ear....

My driver Jeff Gordon just took the pole for the 500, not that it will last or matter....

Here ya go......

Jim
