Howdy folks,
An article I wrote describing my newly developed sidecar can be downloaded in the December newsletter of the Spinal Injuries Association at www.spinal.com.au

Nice set up. I'm in the early stages of looking into having something similar built for myself. Rather than driving from my chair, I was planning on transfering to the bike.

Thank you for the pictures. It will help me explain what I want, when I go to the sidecar builder.

Hiya

not really. It's been on the road for about 8 weeks and done 2500km in that time, but mostly to work and back. Christmas day I'll head to the gold coast which will be 120km or so then it will do a few k's around northern NSW over the holidays.

Hi Downunder,

WOW, it looks absolutely fab! I have a soft spot for side cars though, , as my late dad had a bike and side car years and years ago - one of my best memories of him!

I checked out the article you linked to. Very interesting.

Have a great Christmas and New Year. Hope you get to give it a nice run! Do let us know how it performs as I would love to know,

Take care,

K

Hi KcatK

Bike went fine, twas very wet and windy so I didn't do as much exploring as I would have liked. Sitting in traffic jams in the poring rain with poor sods in their cars dry and bored staring at me made me feel very seperior, this was living!

Bike is perfect up to 80km/hr and great about town, it's short wheelbase and lack of power count against it above that and on the freeway, so this year we maight investigate bolting on more power or do a 2nd bike for long trips and keep this as the town bike.

Merry xmas / happy NY

Nice! Personally I prefer these 'stay in the chair' bikes.

Have tried others and I am just too lazy to be getting in and out of my chair each time I want to ride.

Hi everyone! This is my Ducati 900 Monster 'Drive from Wheelchair' outfit. This is the neatest way to do it as it is so minimalistic that it still looks like a solo bike from certain angles, i.e. your arms and butt are in the positions as if you were riding solo! I had this built at a cost of £8k for the adaptations on top of the bike. Any Ducati will look good as would the Aprilia MANA (Auto).Anyway that’s the way I do it!!! Off to Spain and Portugal this year on a 2000mile ride!!!!

really dont know, i'm a professional artist, been painting since i was 12, so i want to do something nice, but not goddy, every says i should do all kinds of crap, but i'll probably do some nice clean design, i know i think i'll do white with pearl checkers squde for the base, i've done that many times and it really makes for a georgeous base...i dont know, still not to the point of taking it apart yet........

My 125cc sidecar now has 30,000km on it and looking for more power i built this 500cc outfit based on the yamaha TMAX. Great bike. Unfortunatly the handling dynamics were to much for me to deal with (c4/5 quad) so currenly trikeing it. will post some pics when get them, but here is the TMAX sidecar.

The Conquest:

http://www.conquest-...motability.html

I would so love one of these.

They aren't for everyone though. Read the FAQ's before you get your hopes up!

http://www.conquest-...l.com/faqs.html

QUESTION TO MOTOR: Is that trike an automatic? Do you need your feet at all or do they just rest on the pegs? Essentially what I need is something you can drive with your hands only, do you (or anyone) know of anything like that in a trike format?

Don't worry about gears and feet
Kliktronic solonoid actuator does it for you at the touch of a button
And my feet are positioned in stirips
Rear brake is operated from the handlebars
The more engine torque - the bigger the grin

Dave I am extremely interested in a bike w/sidecar. Could you give me some specs on your setup. It appears that you do not "drive" the bike from the sidecar. That is what I want, to transfer to the bike and maybe put my chair in the sidecar. I ride my fourwheeler all the time. It is a honda foreman w/ electric shift. Would love to get back on a bike. Thanks for the inspiration!

My ride
Tourkiest motor available - 1300cc Suzuki Hyabusa - 4 into 1 exhaust - k&n air filter - power comando setup and dynoed - leading link forks - car back tyre - this lowers bike by 70mm (helps ramp angle) - Headingham double sidecar with reinforced floor and rear ramp - air dam between sidecar and bike to keep the thing on the ground (increases corner speed by 20mph) - full power acceleration results in lift of at 94mph (max 130mph at nurberung race track)- klicktronic gear changer - transfer seat between sidecar and bike - at the time of building a double lever hydrolic unit was not available so I got another clutch unit and swapped it over to double up with the front hand brake allowing me to operate front and back brakes at the same time with adjusting the rear lever so that it came on fractionaly after the front - sidecar wheel disc braked - this results in straight line braking.
So I rolls my chair up the ramp, pulls the ramp up, lift push pull myself onto the drivers position via my transfer seat, start her up, warm her up, and enjoy. 0 to 60 before anyone else and full power up to 130 when sidecar drag holds me back. At that speed you don't want to go faster as the chair is rocking and bouncing about

Thus the nickname - Dangerous :dev:

HI Joao!!
Just a line to tell you that we enjoyed your country and its wonderful roads. We followed the River Doura from Porto to Chaves and this was very beautiful. We covered 2500 miles on our trip and will maybe come to ride the roads we missed. Ride Free

new Years Day Polar Run 2011. Road to nearby tourist town many people came up and asked about the bike some said they knew
a person in a chair who might like to ride again like me.

How do you get that grin removed after each run :)

You look great and so does the combo, I saw one in France a year or so ago and the guy had a full size medical skeleton on the bike complete with goggles, scarf and flying hat. It stopped the traffic.

Ride free in the New Year.
