Well, what can I say?...I am not familiar with this particular dvd, so my opinions may be totally of the mark. However, I did have a mooch about and viewed some of "the Secret" on youtube. Also, according to Wikipedia

I'm sorry, but the 'secret' if viewed from the prospective of the author -

Then I would say that in essence, Man ( and when I use this term, I(I mean the Human race) has probably got the resources, somewhere to cure most of the diseases, conditions and may be even 'impairments'/disabilites....given enough time, money and opportunity.
Also Spirituality, belief in oneself and in that of ones faith is also believed by many. A select few will even claim to have seen some kind of miracle from demonstrating their belief ( be it at a rally for their Religion or my giving time or money for the 'cause'.) Others drawn upon faith or strength which they attribute to religion, faith or a passed love one for instance. All these things, if they are important to the person in question and if they feel affected positively, are all valid, although some of the ones I have mentioned latterly may be difficult to measure or be objective about ( except when money is concerned!).
I tend to think that "The Secret" is at best a motivational dvd and maybe its less than that and is the same as those platitudes we hear

I am not poo pooing the power of minds collectively looking and researching 'cures'. I mean, who would have though that we would be able to identify the genes which cause some cases of Breast Cancer and other diseases, or be able to track down the one for Cystic Fibrosis, etc? With this knowledge opens a whole new debate...A can of worms perhaps when it comes to how this knowledge is used (mainly in the interim)..ie some information is not used to treat but to selectively abort, as seen in the types of testing mums to be are offered, routinely. Of course, its a very complex and emotive subject. The above also is more about Science and collectively seeking as opposed to what the Secret seems to be. "The secret" seems to be 'motivating' the person individually.
"The Secret" seems to me to be nothing more than stating the obvious, then marketing it with a spin. I'm not saying that makes it bad, or any different to any of the other self help dvds and books out there. Whether its "Aerobics dvd", "Eat right, don't smoke' dvd or this one, when you look below the surface there aren't (m)any which are saying anything different, or bringing anything new to the table. However, if it explains something for or to you in a way which you feel is more in tune with your life or thinking, then I don't see any harm in it - aside from the price of the dvd/book, like all the others..
Just my opinion..
Take care,
K

The Secret, which is described as a self-help film, [2][3] uses a documentary format to present the "Law of Attraction." This law is the "secret" that, according to the tagline, "has traveled through centuries to reach you." The film features short dramatized experiences and interviews of a team of "personal transformation specialists", "spiritual messengers", "feng shui masters", and moneymaking "experts".[4] As put forth in the film, the "Law of Attraction" principle posits that people's feelings and thoughts attract real events in the world into their lives; from the workings of the cosmos to interactions among individuals in their physical, emotional, and professional affairs. The film also suggests that there has been a strong tendency by those in positions of power to keep this central principle hidden from the public. The previews or "clues" to the film, show men who "uncovered the Secret...".
Hello, I've had the dvd the secret ever since it came out and I watched it a few times and then I started listening to it every morning while i'm getting ready for work. I have make so many things happen for me by doing what the secret says to do and I believe in it 100% plus it just helps you stay in a good mood. When I go a few days without watching it I tend to not live that way so I have to constantly listen to it and watching it every now and again is helpul. I've made sooooo many things happen for myself thru the secret that there's just no way that it bull or just a positive thinking type deal. I had 25 copies made for my freinds and family for xmas hoping that all the people that I love and surround me could have this happiness too and what better life can you get than that? Being able to get everything you want out of your life and all of your friends and family having it too:) I love it but you have to have an open mind and you have to do what it says and practice makes perfect. Peace...and good luck to you all!

If you go through life with your head sadly bent and not fully aware of your surroundings then you will miss opportunities that may have led to a better life.
My preferred option is to take the attitude that if I am open to good things happening then I might recognise it when the opportunity comes along.
My heart is open to love, I believe in it. My pockets are open to money, I like having it. To date, I’ve found I have more love than money. I’m happily poor but open to more cash should it come my way.
Thinking positively is good because you hold you head up and are aware of the world around you. And if you focus on one particular thing you heighten your awareness around that and so increase your chances of catching an opportunity.
This documentary/fantasy wants you to believe in magic. We tend to be a bit gullible and the idea of magic appeals. Something for free. Try it. My advice is to carry some water, food and a warm coat.

Hi,
Sorry it took til now for me to reply to you. Your reply was imbedded in my post and so looked like you didn't add anything.
I highlighted a line of your message above. Like I said in my original post, if it works for you then very good, and I might change my opinion if I read the book/saw the DVD myself, but the types of things it talks about seem to be the type of things which are difficult to measure and as they seem to be about relying and drawing upon 'oneself', I personally think its nothing new and there IS a way that it can be bull and just a positive thinking type of deal...Just like the email I got this morning promising me 1 million pounds if I send £200 to 'cover administration costs' and just like the post about "stem cells in a jar' or whatever that Simon posted.
If it helps you and makes you feel good, and YOU are getting some sort of improvement from it - then FABULOUS! HOWEVER, if it was a REAL cure, surely after all the years "the secret ' has been going ( haven't facets of it been passed down for centuries ie the Feng Shui etc?)There would surely be a break through BY now>??
Also, if there was a cure out there right now, for any of the major diseases and impairments, then we would know about it, it would be ALL over the news, Nobel Peace Prizes would be all over the folks behind it etc.
I am willing to belief in most things, truly I am. I am quite spiritual and have been raised in that environment - my mum is very spiritual and reads a lot about the power of faith, oneself and ancient arts. I am willing to believe that *eventually* combined factors may assist in curing or greatly improving peoples lives as in en mass. However, why is it that such 'help' is always at cost to the recipient? Cost which is above the healthcare etc they have already? If these people truly wish to help us, why don't they produce their "secret" as 'share ware' or something, redeeming only the covering costs? Ok so drug companies don't I hear ya say..but they are trying to rake in the money..so they don't fulfill the criteria as one who wants to help! LOL
Seriously, am glad that you are having such a good experience. The power of the Human mind ( etc) is very amazing. I only hope that those who are very desperate, and who put their last pennies or worst, their last hope in it, don't feel totally let down. Then again, to protect them would just be akin to the nanny state....
Take care,
K ( who apologises for rambling..one of those days!)
