:yahoo: OK - so just as I am starting to get over the shoulder/upper arm pain and reduced function I have been having for the past 18 months (yippee I was thinking) - that my elbow (same arm) has started to give me real problems again. It's been 10 years since I had problems with this elbow (that lasted 2 years) and in the end had to have an operation to remove a loose body from the joint. Since then the elbow has had restricted flexion and extension, but it hasn't given me any pain - then Bang, 3 days ago I suddenly get this incredible sharp pain that stopped me in my tracks and since then I have been getting pain intermittently following the most simple movements - but there is no second-guessing which movements might set it off - Oh no that would make life far too easy to deal with!!
I have been OK driving, until this afternoon, when I was unable to pull my seat forwards into position due to the elbow pain when trying to do so. Looks like I won't be able to get into work this week! I'm so p****d off with this, it just seems to be one problem after the other with this arm. Then I worry that overusing the other arm when its not used to it is gonna have a knock on effect.

Don't get me wrong I know there are many people out there in a worse situation than me and I know I am just feeling sorry for myself - things could be a lot lot worse - at least the shoulder problem is mostly gone - I guess I just need to vent - Thanks for being here. :crytch:

Hi Deej,

Like the previous poster said, we are here to listen and share. I can empathise with you since I have multiple dislocations in my joints each day and they cause micro trauma which builds up, and also has led to tendonitis at a few sites, on top of the pain from the dislocation itself and the other sh*t. I don't mean to moan either, just sounds like it when I explain my situation! So I relate there also :crytch:.

What I will say is that the type pf pain which hits you like you describe and sort of deals a blow unpredictably throughout the day getting more severe than the underlying pain thing, well it does sound like tendonitis etc, as I am sure you probably know. The thing is injuries like these need time to heal and the chronic ones sometimes need tendon release, something I have been scheduled for in the past but which is not an easy option now a days with a chair. The rest can be tricky too.

I would suggest that perhaps you see about getting a splint for "tennis Elbow". There is info HERE which lists the symptoms so you can refer to see if its is likely to be Tennis elbow or perhaps Ulnar impingement etc. Finding out what it is may be in the bag if its the same as years ago though, so sorry if this isn't any use. Hopefully any days you have to spend off can be used to try and rest your arm (as much as us chair users can).

I hope that you find some relief and it goes as quickly as it came, I hope it isn't the same issue as b4 which required surgery and that you get to catch a break so to speak!

Hang in there! Hopefully you have had your share of the cruddy issues for a good while now ( its what I try and tell myself!, lol :yahoo: )

Let us know how things go,

Take care,
