Hello everybody, i am a french 25 years old man. I graduated in 2006 with a "French licence" (which is the equivalent of a bachelor of science) in adapted sports education. I am creating this new topic because i will be in San Antonio, Texas, the 2nd of February for 3months, looking for a job or an internship. Therefore i am looking forward to hearing from you, who are the most concerned about this topic, to indicate me any association you could know, and to which i could send an application.

If you read this topic and live in San Antonio, i will be really happy to meet you in person.

You can mail me directly at: thomasliot@hotmail.fr

I am looking forward to hearing from you very soon! Any related topic is welcome!

Thomas

Hi Thomas, Welcome.

You do not make it clear whether you are looking for info on rehab, sports and rec facilities or whether its a general SCI/Other area which you wish to work in. I am not from the San Antonio area, or even the USA, so the following is just info I have come across. I apologise if you have this already. I am sure that others will be keen to share their experiences if they have them of the area you are traveling to.

Action Online ~ adaptive sports & Recreation May hold some answers for you. Its the unitedspinal.org online sports and rec section.

Also, please see the adaptive sports foundation press release pdf. It has info regarding Veteran programs for those spinally injured. Walter Reed and Brooke Army medical centres.

The Adaptive Sports Foundation (ASF) is a non profit organization with an annual operating budget of $850,000 providing over 2,400 lessons annually to
individuals with cognitive or physical challenges. The ASF has 180 volunteer instructors and seven full time staff members, eight of whom serve as
Adaptive and Alpine educational staff members for the Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors.
The ASF is a PSIA/AASI member ski school, an official Red Cross Provider, a chapter of Disabled Sports USA and is recognized as the largest adaptive
sport program on the east coast and is among the leading programs in the country.

Check out Disabled Sports USA too.

Also I found this regardingSCI Doctors In Antonio Texas.

South Texas Spinal Clinic (North Central San Antonio) 18626 Hardy Oak Blvd, Suite 300 San Antonio, Texas 78258 (210) 495-9047 is one of many such contacts found HERE

Hope this helps,

Take care,

K
