In April we will be taking our first family vacation since my wife's accident. She is a T-10 - T-11 complete. We are going to Disney World. Who has been and how were the accomodations. Easy, hard? Just wandering and trying to get a heads up on what to expect.

Thanks for any and all info,

Brian

There is a lot of Disney information already posted so see more below. But these are my thoughts again. I went there 6 years ago, the access was very good and had a great time. Stayed on the property (they gave us a free upgrade to deluxe hotel because the medium-priced room I reserved was too small for 5). But there are plenty of places to stay off property. Some of the rides you can bring the chair right on and others you have to transfer and the park staff are not allowed to help. Pool at hotel had one end with no steps - the shallow end was a ramp and there were pool wheelchairs for getting into the water with. Too bad we didn't have more time to swim. I don't know what others have experienced but being in a chair does not always mean not waiting on the line.

We go to Disney almost every year, we always have a wonderful time, they really know how to make you feel comfortable there, We had a similar problem when we went last year only they messed up and gave us a non accessible room, but when we went back to the desk they up graded us to a much nicer hotel with an accessible room at no charge. The cast members at Disney are always very accommodating, but they can not help you transfer. You will still see some lines but not too bad very easy to deal with, and if she is like my g/f she may over heat easy, just find a cast member and they will let you wait inside out of the heat for your spot in line if not pushing you to the front.

HAVE FUN!! We always do!!
Kyle
