Does anyone use a headtracker? If so, which one and how does it work for you? How did you find out information about what is available?

Hello,

Someone posted a few days ago, wishing to sell a "headmaster" here is the post link: http://www.apparelyz...p;hl=headmaster

Also, please see the thread started very recently about the types and ranges of 'Adaptive' Tracking devises etc : http://www.apparelyz...p;hl=headmaster

Also, Adaptive computer products is a wealth of resources ( websites etc) which may be of use to compare all the different types available.(You have to scroll down to near the bottom for the pooter stuff.

They include Eye tracking 'devices' and Head tracking (1) and Head Tracker/pointer (2) Oh and there is another item which they claim is a low cost alternative for tetra/quads tetralite

Camera Mouse Is apparently a handsfree pooter mouse controller ( without need for headgear).

There are also other types of handsfree pooter control, including Eye Gaze and the one mentioned above.

And of course Dragon NatruallySpeaking solutions

I hope this helps. Of course, the links here and many many others can be found at the site linked to above and elsewhere. I just wanted to provide a selection here, for ease of reference, so that others interested may take a look, and to demonstrate the types available.

I hope this helps. I am sure those with personal experience of using these systems will chime in and give you their opinions on the effectiveness/pitfalls of the ones they use. I have limited personal experience with Voice recog softwares only, and anecdotal feedback from others..,.

Take care,

K

I use "naturalpoint smartnav" which requires the use of a reflective dot, best to glue the reflective dots to a butterfly clip and connect it to the front of the cap for convenience

hello Im new here, been doing a little R&D for my sister and a friend. in my travels I have found a few low cost solutions that apparently work quite well (have tested the head tracker working on an eye tracker)
eyetracker
and a Mr Johnny Chung Lee has used the wiimote for some interesting head tracking applications
wiimote headtracking and other
there seems to be a third option that left me rather impressed.
through this DIY I found this controller which can be set for something like 14 different commands.
I hope this helps (if you were looking for something more custom)

I use the smartnav-4 and it is great. I have used mine for over 3 years and the one time I had a problem with the base they overnight shipped me a new base no problem.

i use the 'headmouse extreme' with a sip/puff switch been using it for ~11 years. i use one in bed with a laptop on a hospital-like table and one on my desktop for when im not in bed (obviously)

i'd try the smartnav first if you're looking to get a head-tracker it appears to be much cheaper

that is definitely some cool stuff!
Imagine what I do when I need to laugh or feel better. Imagine a purple hippo standing up straight wearing pink clown shoes and juggling lime green Jell-O squares!
