Been bummed out for weeks. Part of it is it is cold, and hard to get out in the snow. My spasms are worse. Body temp. can't figure it out, I'm always cold long johns, 3 shirts, down vest. In the summer I can't handle the heat, I feel like I'm going to pass out. I just don't get it.Help Friends

I think us SCI's are particularly sensitive to temperature extremes.
Even though I live in a temperate climate, a big motivation for moving a few years ago was the tiring summer heat at the other end of the country.
So one solution can be to move house but, of course, that has many drawbacks, too.
Stephen Hawking, physicist, cosmologist and something of a dreamer:
Although I cannot move and I have to speak through a computer, in my mind I am free.

Hey Tired you need a really bright light I use a Verilux Full Spectrum Light Bulb 150 Watt Frosted and I sit in front of it with my face real close I have foil in back to reflect all the light to my face. In the winter the days are short and we are inside in the dim light. They call it SAD for good reason. Another thing is vitamin D the sunshine vitamin no sun no D I take 6000IU's a day in the winter. D is very important for mood and depression and nerves so maybe spasms too. Try a hot water bottle and I keep my legs covered and keep them warm if they get cold it takes forever to get warm. ken

Hello and believe me I know what you are going through and how you feal.I am a c-7 incomplete and on 7.5mgs. of med. for blood thiners which really makes you cold.I have a temp.controlled low voltage electric heater I move from room to room to keep me warm and from my wife from turning temp up to high in the house.I too as well hate going out in the cold but I force myself when needed.I do get very depressed alot as I am going thru alot of hurdles right now and a while back thought even about taking a handful of pain meds and go but could not do it.So I Pray alot and go to church.I force myself out of bed most days which is a strugle on most days and this my friend is the truth.I try and find things to do as in on the computer or read and anything to keep my mind busy instead of thinking of how cold I am or how bad I feel.I still struggle every day as to how easy it would be for me to just end my life and all the pain. But I have a loving wife and family that I start thinking about instead even though they would all understand about me taking my life as they all know the pain and struggles I deal with every day.I could go on for ever but will end on this note.Hang in as I di try and find something to do and go from there.I hope this little note about me helps some and good luck.Bruce
