Hi Dennis65, and welcome to the forum. You didn't mention if you've talked to your doctor about your pain or if you are on medication for pain and where is the pain? I stay in chronic pain everyday because of the rods in my back. Somtimes it feels like the left rod is going to break through my back. I also have neuropathy pain which is a burning, stinging, stabbing pain. I take one Avenza aday for the back pain and Lyrica twice aday for the neuropathy pain. It helps but I still hurt. Im a T4 para and as much as I have worked on it I don't have great balance so Im constantly fighting for balance. While sitting up in my chair I have to constantly push with my arms to hold myself up because when I raise my arms I fall forward. While driving Im ok because Im holding on but I get trigger points in my back since I use my upper body to do everything. I see a pain specalist who gives me trigger point injections in my neck and back. They help some. I have somedays worse than others. I don't know if this has helped any but I would talk to my doctor first of all and if you are on medication and its not working tell your doctor and he may can change it. I hope all goes well with you and again welcome.

Hi Dennis65,

I'm a T11/L2 incomplete. I take Gabapentin for nerve pain and Lexapro for depression. For breakthrough pain I take oxycotin. I have no relief in the burning I get in my lower legs and feet unless I stand with my leg braces and a walker.

Sorry about your pain and depression. I hope you progress to where you can control it. Good luck.

Hi Dennis65,

good to meet you, although I wish it was under different circumstances...As for the pain situation, if you dig a round a little here, you will soon stumble upon many pain related posts. unfortunately. I am a chair user ( I would say in a chair, but that makes me sound glued there!) for over 2.5 years and had/have had issues with daily dislocations and varying degrees of paralysis/parasthesia ( until that fateful day) and I have 4 or so different types of pain which are still very much there. However, I am not a straight forward case as I have a connective tissue disorder (ie the dislocations etc), and an underling pain fatigue condition related to this, as well as paralysis. All these may contribute to that "neuro" nerve pain,

I have tried Gabapentin and Topamax and am about to take Lyrica (along with my opiates ) and may even try Zacin ( made out of the stuff Chillis are made out of and is meant to kill like crazy, but block pain receptors) we are just not sure if it will be that useful for Neuropathic pain, I tried extra hot Tiger balm and didn't help.... Unfortunately, like many others I have constant debilitating and gut wrenching, and all the verbs you can use pain. I actually have nerve, dislocations pain ( multiple, each day) and tendon and underlying other pains./..Its a wonder I can tell the different types, or that the drs can....

If you look at the following thread which is a current day one, you will find other info and experiences: Click Here>

I hope that this helps,

See ya around,

Take care,

K

Just to add that some medications for depression can assist with Neuro pain. Do see the other threads etc here at Apparelyzed, Simon has given us a great place to share and gather info :H2kOther (26):
