Hi,
This is a great forum. We do not have one like this in the Netherlands. I´ve had tips for a hotel in Las vegas ( trip through california).
Now I am searching a hotel with roll in shower, nearby Anaheim Disneyland (we will stay there for 2 nights) and a hotel with roll in shower, nearby Santa Monica or Venice Beach. I´ve heard that the beaches are accessible).

Here is my run down:
Disneyland...Loved the Grand California because you just go right into the park from the hotel. Also, the accessible room had the biggest bathroom. Only problem was that we got the room facing the park, so it was a little noisy at night...sleeping.
Disneyland...Disneyland Hotel...Older hotel but I have heard they have updated it. However, the trek was a bit much for me... to and from the monorail into the park.
Anaheim...The hotel the Abilities Expo uses and I have found accessible is the Hilton Anaheim. It is not located within the confines of the Disneyland area, so you will have to get in the car or take a cab over to the park area. However, at night you can see the fireworks at Disneyland from the Concerige floor of this hotel. It was a nice show. The rooms are large and you will like the bathrooms. However, you may need to book early as they fill up fast.
Santa Monica...Doubletree was overpriced and not really accessible. You had to pay for parking and all of the accessible rooms were pretty far away from the main elevator. Also, the bathroom door opened out into the walkway of the room so you were kind of stuck going back into your room then close the door to go back out. Also, you had to cross over the freeway then go another three blocks to reach the shopping area. Definitely not walking distance in my opinion.
Santa Monica...Jinky's Cafe is the place to eat breakfast and lunch. They have the best waffles and pancakes. The omeletes looked good too, but I don't like them. It is a small place but they were accomodating. The bathrooms are accessible. Also the parking structure is right next door, so no street parking. Then you can just wheel over to the 3rd Street Promenade for shopping and then the Santa Monica Pier and the beach. Try not to park on the street unless you have a handicap placard visible in your car. Santa Monica is known for ticketing frequently for not abiding by their parking times on the street and overdue parking meters.
Marina del Rey...I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Marina del Rey. Terrible hotel for wheelchairs. Great location. But the room was small and they didn't have a roll-in shower on the property. Beautiful area.
Santa Barbara...The Pacifica Hotel is great for wheelchairs. The parking is right near the rooms and you are close to the freeway. The rooms are suites and they give you yummy warm cookies during afternoon and evening. Also the happy hour is filled with great appetizers.
Santa Barbara...I stayed at Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort near the beach. A lot of money for not a great room. The parking was far from the room and the accessible rooms double as the pet friendly rooms. So you hear a lot of barking and the rooms smelled. The room was large, but I thought the bathrooms were too dark for my liking.
Hope this helps on your trek...
