We sure are! I finally got to hold Victoria today the first time since Dec. 4th the day before the accident. She just laid there and grinned from ear to ear. When I asked her if she wanted to go back to bed she shook her head no and kept smiling. We all laughed it was really funny to see her expression. I am so much happier these days it is amazing how much this child has adapted to her injuries and just seeing that has made my heart alot happier. Thanks for writing and I will post again so. Theresa

Hi TheresaR,
that is fabulous news! I have been wondering how things were going with the plans for home. Victoria once again sounds like she is a little joy
It will be a stressful time and one fraught with worry, but also it will be wonderful to have Victoria in her own home, surrounded by her own family and like you say not in the same hospital room!
You may find that she makes even more progress in her own home environment
I have added a few links for your perusal, it may be that you have some already, but I wanted to post them anyway:
Coming soon~ parents and carers.com
National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities USA
The Disabled Childrens Relief Fund
Take care and please do let us know, when you can, how things are going, Its absolutely fantastic news!
Take care,
K

Hi K, We are so excited! It is going to be scary but I am sure all of us will do okay. It will be alot of trial and error. Yesterday as I was holding her, the Y tube I am not sure that is its name, it is clear and brings the air up to the trach, came off and both of my hands where busy holding her. The alarm went off and the nurse came running in and reconnected it. I paniced and thought OMG what would I have done if I was alone. These are the things that will be frightening to me. But I guess we will figure it out as time goes on and each individual thing happens.
I will check out sites you provided. All the info you can pass this way is greatly appreciated. Take care K and it was great hearing from you again. Theresa

Thank you for the encouraging words! I think about this on a daily basis, what the future holds for baby Victoria. Who knows what will happen? Maybe someday she maybe able to use her arms or even walk. There are many medical breakthroughs happening daily and maybe they will find one that will help her and all the other people in the same situation as her. The biggest saving grace that we have with her is that she is so young and has not experienced alot in her whole 21 months of life that she will not remember walking and having experienced the use of her arms, hands and legs. This is not to say that she won't miss using them as she sees others do so but she will think she has always been this way when she gets older. Of course she will know what happened to her as people will tell her but as far as memory we don't remember things that far back in our childhood. Thank you for your ecouraging message and best wishes to you also...Theresa
