I do wonder about that too.

We rarely get snow here in Vancouver -- 1 inch is already considered a severe storm. I don't know how snowy places (ie. the rest of Canada that actually dips below freezing) do it.

I split my time between the States and Australia. Us crazy ski instructors and our back to back winters. I do all this on a Canadian passport since despite growing up in Colorado I never became a citizen. Currently though I'm in Colorado, back in the mountain town I grew up in. I'm a glutton for punishment via snow. I get through it by thinking of the beach in WA. Anyway that's my explanation for why I answered other lol.

Goose, that's a very, very good question. It started snowing here in September. And it'll keep going into May, June in some places. Last ski place closed July 4th. I get more warmth and sun in Australia in their winter than I do here in the spring/fall :-p
