I am a T4 and I was wondering where I can get a chest strap from? I learned at rehab to drive and I used a chest strap there. I was just wondering where I could find my own. It has to be something not permanent because I will just be renting a vehicle and I dont want to damage whats not mine.
Help!

Hello,

not sure if this will help, but I know that guys (and girls probably) who play w/chair Rugby/basketball use those weightlifting belts. Not sure if they would come large enough (to fit around the car's seat) but two together -joining them by their own hoop & loop (velcro®) might??

Hope this helps - if nothing else it will bump the thread!± :thread jacked: lol

Take care,

My boyfriend gets someone who does heavy duty sewing to sew seatbelts together and uses velcro for the opening/fastening, then you can make them any size you want.

Sorry but why would you want a chest strap? Seems like overkill in the extreme. I'm higher than you (T2) and have never used one to drive and I have 4 or 5 friends of T4 and above and none of them use one. I'd suggest just getting on with it and drive without one, you soon learn how to brace yourself in the corners.

Must be a Pommy thing (weight lifting belts) because the majority of Aussie wheelchair rugby & wheelchair basketball players wear either motocross kidney belt or neoprene belts.

A neoprene (wet suit material) belt, say 12" wide, closed with Velcro would possibly work. I use something similar to 'strap me into my day chair' when travelling in the back of a Maxi Taxi (they lash the chair to the floor of the taxi with ratchet straps).

Good luck!
