Rigid Wheelchair Backs

I'm looking at getting a new backrest for my Quickie Ti. I'm fed up with stretched standard upholstery, and tension adjustable ones just seem to put to much pressure on my back at the top strap (my backrest is only about 10" high from the cushion)
Has anyone tried the Jay Xtreme or Varilite Talon backs?

I love mine. It's improved my posture which is important long term. And I reckon it's also more efficient in pushing the wheels. You get a more positive response when moving the chair.
Initially, I had to get used to the new balance, both of my sitting position and handling the chair. That didn't take long. It adds slightly to the weight which can be a consideration loading into a car but that's never been a problem for me. It's one more thing on the chair that can go wrong but mine have been remarkably reliable over about 6 years (for the Jay).

I use a jayback and love it. I am changing the actual cushion to get more lumbar support.

I have one of these. It's great! I got mine made to a custom height and had no problems with them whatsoever. I tried getting the Jetstream Pro back from Roho (which is made by ADI and sold by Roho as the Jetstream Pro) and they would not allow Roho products to be shipped out of the US. If I bought the Jetstream Pro back in Canada it would have cost almost double what it do in the US and we only have ONE supplier that is allowed to supply Roho products to every medical supply dealer in Canada. He couldn't get the backs so they tried selling me a demo for $500! I said no and got a brand new custom height ADI backrest for the regular cost and it turned out great. If your not in the US I'd recommend skipping Roho alltogether and going straight to ADI. (Funny how they are in the US and when I mentioned that Roho wouldn't allow their backrest to be shipped out of the US the people at ADI had no idea!)
Anyway, my posture is so much better, and they are really well made and well padded.

That's because ROHO is a company in it to make money more then anything else, they want you to go through their channels and their 1 rep in the country. ADI is a guy in a wheelchair in Texas working out of his shop making this stuff and while he does want to make money, he also wants people to have his stuff, i wish I could have gone through ADI instead of ROHO to get mine, but i wasn't paying for it.

Roho makes such popular products that going worldwide would make them a ton,,,,except that expansion of production normally decreases quality. Something they don't seem willing to accept.
I'm not privy to any inside info,,, just a satisfied customer.

When I tried ordering a Roho Jetstream Pro backrest from Sportaid they told me that Roho wouldn't let them ship any of their products out of the US and that if they did Roho wouldn't let them distrubute Roho proiducts anymore. The only way to get Roho products outside the US is to get them from the distributers in the country you are from. In Canada there is only ONE distrubuter that Roho has approved. But they couldn't supply the medical supply company that I tried getting the backrest from in Canada with it because they had to supply EVERY company that sold them in Canada with the products. I called ADI and spoke to them and they said that they made the backrest that Roho is selling as the Jetstream Pro. I got my backrest dirctly from ADI with no problem at all. They shipped it from the US and when I told the girl there that I was having problems getting the backrest from Roho and told her what Sportaid and another couple of places told me about them not shipping the backrest out of the US she hadn't known that Roho wasn't shipping out of the US and said she would be looking into it further.
Here's a picture of my backrest.

I'm in the same boat as you were. In Sweden there is only distributor for Roho, however they don't stock this back so now i'm stuck as I would like to have tried the back before buying as i'm not sure if to get the low back or the high back.
