Hi - New member/first post.

After 18 years in a Quickie GPV I'm about to order up a new TiLite from Gerald Simonds.

Have narrowed model choice to the Aero Z and ZRA. According to the spec list, the titanium ZRA is only a couple of pounds lighter than the ally Aero Z. Both chairs seem to offer much the same spec-wise.

Noticing that some of the members here have recently bought ZRAs, I was wondering what influenced your decision to go for the more costly chair.

I have to say Ive had terrible service from Gerald Simmons. For that reason alone I would not buy Tilite again sadly. I know Im not the only one to grumble about them. Shame, great chairs.

Hi, I have a ZRA and i bought it from gerald simmons and the chair is great i chose the titanium for the flexibility of the frame as apposed to a stiffer frame on the ali frame chairs and the lighter chair is great for lifting around, I would not use gerald simmons again as the after care is not up to much as the chair came to me with the wrong gear on and it took a long time for them to sort out and they promised some free stuff to compensate but never got it.
I would use them to get measured for the chair take notes of all the measurments and then order from the US it will be cheaper and you will be able to get all the extras and build a fantastic chair for less than the chair with half the extras on than from gerald simmons.
The only reason i used gerald simmons is because i got half the cost of the chair from wheelchair services if i did not get that i would go online and order from the US.
Just make sure you know every measurment and know what they all mean.
I hope this helps you out abit and the tilite chairs are a great chair the only other thing is the availabity of spare parts in this country.

You can get Ti Lite from Ian Laker at GBL, they have a much better service! Gerald Simmonds are the importer for Ti Lite in the UK but you don't have to buy it from them. Gerald Simmonds have one objective in my view - to make money, Ian from GBL get it right by price, comfort, and service. Ian Laker has been in a chair basically all his life, so really knows the game!!

Emma.

I have a Ti-Lite, but am sticking with RGK you get a better custom frame and its lighter. I personally think, through Ian!

Many thanks for response.

Shame about GS's current rep. though, especially as where I live (deepest Norfolk) they are the only wheelchair dealer I can find who will come out and do the measure-up (they have a rep in Stowmarket, Suffolk).

I did check out that guy Laker's site but there seems to be problems with it currently.

only search probs.. If Ian wont come out all the way to where you live RGK will! They have reps all over the country and will lend you a demo chair to see if you like it for a couple of weeks.

when I got my ZRa last year i hadn't heard of the aero z at the time or i might have gone with it, although those few small lbs do make a different when lifting a chair in and out of your vehicle all the time. If not for that then there really isn't much difference other then they give you color options for one and not the other.

Thanks Tex - From what I've gathered, the only real difference (weight apart) is that titanium is a little more flexy than ally so may give a slightly more comfortable ride on rough surface. Think I'll save the extra £300 ($600 - ish) on the base price. Got to have those soft-roll castors you mentioned though!

Would have quite liked the brushed silver colour option on the TRA too.
