I've been checking this site out for awhile now and finally decided to join up. I'm a t-9 complete due to a fall that I had at my job as a welder. I'm approaching my 1 year anniversary of the accident, and I really don't think I'll be celebrating that day.( 4-20-2007)

But I realized one thing, it's time to move on and quit sulking about what I can't do anymore. What happened is what happened, and I'm working my ass off to do the things that I used to do before my accident. At my injury level, I know that I can. About the only thing that's holding me back is the damm pain (neuropathic). It feels like a burning ring of fire at my injury level. SUCKS, but I know almost everyboby with a spinal injury goes through it.

Look foreward to hear from all of you and hope I can help others also. Thanks, Terry
My spine maybe broken, not my spirit.

Howdy

I guess you were injured on a Friday huh? I was injured two days after you... on a beautiful sunday. My brother took me up to the mountain to ride our crotch rockets...and that changed my life.

My accident happened on my half birthday (dob: Oct 22) so I'm gonna celebrate like hell. There nothing else for me to do right?

Welcome aboard. It has come to my attention that the term gimp is not universally accepted and is frowned on by some people in other country's so I will no longer be using it. Maybe we could have a thread on what would be an accepted nick name for SCI. Enjoy the ride.

Yong, funny you would mention the half birthday. Im an October baby myself, injured in mid April. I thought I was the only one who used my half birthday as an excuse to party. Needless to say, now I have another reason to party this next week. I'm calling it My Ressurection!

Terry, Welcome aboard! Try not to get too down on the anniversary, its just a date afterall. No differrent than the day before or after. You're here, you're alive, you're stronger, probably smarter and thats no reason to put your head down.

Keep that chin up, kiddo!

Hi Terry,

Glad you jumped in. Sorry you had too. I just passed my one year anniversary and it sucked. Keep up the great attitude.

Hello and welcome!

I'm nearly at my 1 year mark, April 14, I given it a lot of thought and I will be marking the anniversary, I've had a lot of support from my friends over the last year and I'm going to use the date to say thank you, as well as an excuse to drink lots of wine! I don't know how i'm going to feel on the day though!

It is possible, in my experience, to control the pain so don't give up on it, if one thing doesn't work for you then keep trying.
Take care

If you're drinking, know just the t-shirt for you (found in an online disability shop). On the back it says 'If you can read this, I'm P***ed!'
